  • Patent number: 8351526
Abstract: In an OFDM system using pilot cells for channel estimation, time interpolation among pilot cells of different OFDM symbols is commonly used to improve the estimate. The estimated channel impulse response is also windowed to further reduce noise and disturbances. However, for a transmission over a time-varying channel, suboptimal time interpolation, implemented with a filter having only a few taps not matched to the maximum Doppler frequency, degrades channel estimation. As aliases can lead to an erroneous estimate of channel duration and consequent errors in windowing, the present invention implements a technique to detect aliases and correct the estimate of channel duration. Parameters of the detection techniques are optimized by an analysis that provides closed-form expressions of the false alarm and miss detection probabilities.

  • Patent number: 8348716
Abstract: A unique code is used to register a virtual pet or other item using a code that is associated with the pet, and which, when entered, allows viewing and interacting with a virtual representation of the actual item on the website. If the code is entered during a specific time period, it allows obtaining at least one additional item, for example an exclusive item that cannot be obtained in any other way. The specific time period can be extended, e.g., using supplemental codes. The codes may specify fixed or variable time periods, and may be generic extension codes and extend other things other than this period.

  • Patent number: 8349652
Abstract: There is provided a three-dimensional integrated circuit manufacturing method for temporarily attaching a chip to a transcription substrate, and securely detaching the chip from the transcription substrate when the chip is transferred to a supporting substrate. When a chip is temporarily attached to a transcription substrate, by evaporating a liquid existing between the chip and the transcription substrate, the solids of the chip and the transcription substrate can be attached to each other. Accordingly, the chip can be temporarily attached to the transcription substrate so as not to be deviated from its own position. Further, by setting adhesive strength between the chip and a supporting substrate to be higher than that between the chip and the transcription substrate, the chip can be securely detached from the transcription substrate when the chip is transferred from the transcription substrate to the supporting substrate.
