  • Patent number: 4436161
Abstract: A soil cultivating implement having an elongated frame portion which extends substantially horizontally perpendicular to the direction of travel of the implement mounts a side plate at each lateral end. The frame portion carries a row of rotary tined soil working members and the side plates can move upwardly and downwardly to cooperate with the adjacent soil working members and a rear supporting roller. In order to prevent the formation of the stream of soil produced by this cooperation into a ridge, the side plate comprises a rim having a lower substantially horizontal ground-engaging portion and also comprises a rear surface that is bent over inwardly towards the center of the implement to deflect the stream of soil towards the neighboring end of the following ground roller when the implement is in operation.

  • Patent number: 4431046
Abstract: A low pressure casting process using a furnace of the channel-type induction for heating, the furnace power being automatically controlled by direct temperature measuring of the molten metal bath according to the desired casting temperature. The feeding chamber of the furnace is of pressure-type and has a protective gas with a slight over-pressure. The furnace is filled via a syphon-shaped feeding chamber whereby metal is inserted below the level of molten metal in the feeding chamber and the protective gas therein is not affected. An operator starts the casting process whereby a casting mold is closed and assumes a casting position over the casting nozzle from the furnace and metal is forced into the mold. The mold, one of several on a carousel is moved to a station wherein the casting is automatically discharged to a conveyor belt. The mold next moves to an immersion bath where it is treated, and then to a preparation station wherein it may be cleaned and cores inserted.

  • Patent number: 4420907
Abstract: A shallow two inch deep double hung window which is sufficiently water and wind resistant to replace jalousies, which can be used in cabana walls and which fits screen porches, utilizing existing screening. Block and tackle sash balance counter balance the weight of individual panels and provide a lateral resilient action to maintain panels in position. A double action leaf spring stop for each panel selectively disengages the sash balances therefrom so that by moving a panel laterally it is removable. Window and panel frame members consist of aluminum extrusions which facilitate construction of custom windows made to selected sizes. Inside or outside flanges for securing the window to the wall structure are optionally provided.

  • Patent number: 4416582
Abstract: A multi-stage turbine has an inflow disc pack that directs motivating fluid to an outflow disc pack on the same shaft. The packs are fitted to rotate between plates that web a turbine casing interior and fluid entry into the casing to the inflow pack is via nozzles in a ring assembly fixed to the casing. Each disc pack is made up by spaced apart discs with fences that guide the motivating fluid first through the inflow pack and then the outflow pack. A central passageway in the packs and adjacent the shaft communicates fluid inflow to outflow. Fluid exhaust is through exits at the casing bottom. In one version, the disc packs are conical and when seen from the side, the packs with webbed plates are X configured in section. In another version, the inflow pack is flat, the outflow pack conical and the casing of both versions are configured to provide low losses and maximum strength. The nozzles can be convergent-divergent in a plenum located adjacent the inflow pack circumference.

  • Patent number: 4412587
Abstract: A soil working machine has a working member with element blades and a scraping member that releases clods cut out by the working member so that the clods drop to the ground. Both of the members can be positively driven in the same direction about horizontal axes, but the scraping member can also be rotated by contact with the ground. Preferably, the blades are secured to support discs and extend axially of the working member. Scraping elements on arms of the scraping member project between the blades of adjacent support discs and have vanes which also extend almost axially. During rotation, the vanes are moved to intersect the paths of the blades and to remove the clods. Other forms of scraping members are described. The scraping member ensures that soil is wiped from the blades, to avoiding clogging of the working member and a consequent increased power requirement. Also, the cut clods are preferably replaced upside down by the action of the members.

  • Patent number: 4409657
Abstract: A time clock and/or computer system has a central management office with readout communication to factory work stations. Work instructions to the work stations are displayed for the foreman who prints or punches a working order. The order together with worker ID are fed to a time clock at the station before and after the job. Signals to a terminal at the station indicate delays to the foreman and management.

  • Patent number: 4364579
Abstract: An amusement toy comprising an annular body which has an outer peripheral surface containing profiled hoop edge portions at its outboard edges which are joined by a squat barrel-shaped portion, such edge portions being integral with vertical side wall portions which are somewhat bulged in an outboard direction and which terminate at an inner rim. A gripping bar joins the rims and a cover is rigidly connected across the rims which bulges inwardly towards the center of the toy to form with peripheral surfaces a channel of about 120.degree. of arc, the end of the channel being about 30.degree. of arc from the bar. All parts of the toy except the gripping bar are composed of a rigid resin material and all surfaces are compound curves. A person who places himself in the channel and holds onto the gripping means is capable of causing the toy to rock on a level surface and by sufficient rocking to roll over whereby the cover joining the rims holds the person within the channel.

  • Patent number: 4350303
Abstract: Two spreading mechanisms disposed substantially completely across a rear outlet of a container-hopper having a movable deck, the spreader comprising a pair of two-part distribution members which rotate about vertical shafts which are disposed close to the edge of the deck. The upper part has four sets of resilient tines extending from angle irons spaced outwardly from the rotary shaft, the tines being bent at their ends and connected to the angle irons via coils whereby they are resiliently forced backward in their rotation through the fertilizer, usually manure, and when released resiliently spring forward whereby material engaged by the tines if flung outwardly. On the same shaft the lower part is a disc type ejector extending in substantial part under the moving deck to receive fertilizer which the tines miss. A freely rotatable guide member surrounds the shaft between the ejector and the tined portion to preclude material from winding around the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4304313
Abstract: An agricultural type tractor with lifting devices on the front, rear and both sides for agricultural implements. Each pair of rear drivable wheels which are in tandem pivot about a common axle and each pivotable pair of such wheels is driven by a separate hydraulic motor, with each motor, however, connected to a common control whereby the velocity of the wheels on one side can be increased while the velocity of those on the other is decreased for steering around curves and the like. The arrangement also provides a hydraulically lockable differential to avoid the spinning of one set of the drivable wheels while the other set does not move due to an obstruction or the like. Outboard of each set of drivable wheels is a rotatable supporting element which is mounted from the tractor's frame so as to be displaceable outwardly and upwardly relative to the adjacent 0010 set of drivable wheels. Each supporting element has two wheel members which receive an endless chain tread.
