  • Patent number: 4652057
Abstract: A train having at least a pair of control cabs spaced along the train interconnected electrically. Electric signals transmitted between the control cabs allows for fluid braking signals to be propagated from both control cabs toward each other. Each car of the train includes a device for modifying a test signal transmitted between the control cabs in response to a specified condition. The signal modify device can be a tuned circuit and may indicate brake status or a hot journal.

  • Patent number: 4590694
Abstract: A snow plow is provided comprising a steel member having a mold board at its lower end. A snow plow blade extends below the mold board. The snow plow blade comprises a sheet of lightweight material, preferably urethane. This sheet is resistant to corrosion from moisture and salt and to road abrasion. The sheet has a front surface and a back surface, each of which extends from the top of the sheet to the bottom of the sheet to define the thickness of the blade. The thickness is relatively constant. The bottom of the blade is defined by a relatively straight edge for better snow removal. A steel reinforcing bar is mounted in a groove in either the front or the back surface of the sheet. Bolt means mount the steel bar to the sheet and also to the plow.

  • Patent number: 4586414
Abstract: A sign making machine is provided comprising a frame and a power unit attached to the frame. A hydraulic cylinder is also attached to the frame and is hydraulically connected to the power unit. This hydraulic cylinder has a piston rod extending downwardly. A platen is mounted on the bottom of said piston rod and a die is mounted beneath said platen. Sheeting material is mounted on rolls and passes beneath said die on a cutting surface on the bottom portion of the frame. The sheeting material passes through a track means. Pin means are provided on the die to mark said sheet material. Markings are provided on the frame so that the markings made by the pin means may be aligned with one of the markings on the frame to provide desired spacing between a symbol cut by said die means and the next symbol to be cut by the die means.

Sheet material is mounted on rolls and passes beneath said die on a cutting surface on the bottom portion of the frame. The sheet material passes through a track means. Indicia on the die indicate a width quotient of a symbol to be cut. A drive unit advances the sheeting material by a distance equal to the width quotient of the symbol plus the width quotient of the next symbol to be cut plus the spacing between these symbols.

  • Patent number: 4527960
Abstract: A combination motor-fan unit for wet pick-up vacuum cleaner applications is provided with a flow of sealing air past the bearing located between the motor and the fan. The housing supporting the bearing is provided with a diffusing chamber on the fan side of the bearing and a restricted air flow path through the housing to the diffusing chamber to utilize the motor cooling air as a source for the bearing sealing air. A check valve is provided in the restricted air flow path.

  • Patent number: 4355660
Abstract: A four position hydraulic valve having a first power, a hold, a float, and a second power position is adapted for pneumatic control by enclosing the ends of the power spool in pneumatic chambers. A three position pneumatic valve having its two output ports connected respectively to the pneumatic chambers, drives the power spool from the hold position to either power position and from the float position to the hold position. A detent retains the powers spool in the float position after a second power position and a centering spring biases the power spool toward the hold position from either power position and the float position.

  • Patent number: 4347569
Abstract: A microprocessor controlled wheel slip system for a train of railway cars receives wheel speed data, calibrates that data in accordance with a predetermined set of instructions, and indicates when a pair of wheels on an axle of a given car is slipping or spinning relative to the other wheels on the other cars of the train.

  • Patent number: 4281818
Abstract: This invention concerns a butterfly valve having a resilient, adjustable body seat for the pivoting disc. The seat comprises a T-shaped elastomeric ring which is confined at one end by the transverse wall of an annular groove in the valve body and that another end by a clamping ring which slides along the wall of the flow passage extending through the body. The clamping ring is forced against the seat ring by a plurality of individual screw actuators spaced around its circumference and therefore selected portions of the seat ring can be compressed as needed to produce a leak-free seal around the entire periphery of the pivoting disc. The T-shaped elastomeric ring is held in place solely by mechanical forces in order to permit removal, maintenance, and replacement thereof.
