Abstract: An improved weight sensing apparatus wherein the output signal of a transducer and, therefore, the reading on a weight meter is rendered accurate regardless of the location of the load. The invention includes providing a set of stabilizing flexures forming a parallelogram with the flexures interconnecting a fixed base and a movable outrider which is adapted to receive the load. A beam balance lever has one end secured to the outrider, and the other end is mass balanced and is built into the parallelogram so that the reduced section of the transducer which interconnects the beam and the fixed base is in alignment with either the top or bottom flexures of the parallelogram. The load end of the lever is secured to the outrider by means of a vertical flexure, loaded in tension, so as to carry the force created by the load into the lever from the outrider; and, in this fashion, avoids rendering the device sensitive to the precise placement of the load on the outrider.
Abstract: A unique container closure is disclosed which includes a flat top surface, a vertical side wall, and a sloping intermediate wall interconnecting the top and the side wall at an angle to the vertical. Interiorly of the closure are depending, radially inwardly extending reinforcement ribs which are integrally connected to the top surface, the intermediate wall, and the side wall for stiffening purposes. An annular depending rib is also contained on the interior surface of the intermediate wall, and the inner surface of the side wall has a recess, an inwardly extending annular flange, and a further recess adapted to engage a corresponding lip on the container per se.
Abstract: A combined display and viewing device intended to be used in connection with the sale of jewelry including an upstanding three-sided frame member having mirrors mounted on its interior surfaces and mounted on a base. Also included is an adjustable magnifying means which is adjustable either vertically with regard to the base and rotatably about its mounting axis or both. A light source is mounted on the frame so that it substantially overlies the magnifying means, and in this fashion a piece of jewelry such as, for example, a ring can be placed on the hand of the prospective purchaser, following which the purchaser's hand is placed under the magnifying means and the light source is activated, and the purchaser will be able to obtain a clear impression from all vantage points of the appearance of the piece of jewelry.
