  • Patent number: 5111838
Abstract: A dunnage bag valve and coupling arrangement comprises a valve stem having a spring loaded valve member which is movable to open a passage through the stem. A pair of circumferentially extending, diametrically opposed slots are formed on opposite sides of the stem. An axially extending opening is provided at one end of each slot for receiving a lug. A pair of lugs are formed on the inner cylindrical portion of a coupling so that the coupling can be pressed onto the stem and twisted, the lugs being introduced into the slot openings and then riding along the circumferential portions of the slots. An air hose is threaded to the coupling so that compressed air can be introduced through the valve stem into the dunnage bag. A fixed post inside the coupling opens the valve member when the coupling is engaged to the valve stem. To prevent rotation of the stem, teeth at the base of the stem engage teeth on the ring of a handle that is held while the coupling is pushed and twisted onto the valve stem.

  • Patent number: 4796293
Abstract: A method and apparatus for enhancing the operation of a teleconferencing system, utilizes a programmed service computer to drive a bridge which has a plurality of ports for establishing communication with a plurality of conferees. The bridge includes a microprocessor which responds to a plurality of commands, each requiring information in the form of plural constant information responses and plural variable information responses. The constant information responses involve the status and identification for a conference and conferees of that conference. The variable response information is specific to each conferee. This may include first and last name for the conferee, as well as the conferee's telephone number. The programming of the service computer supplies the information responses to the microprocessor in the appropriate order for achieving functions, such as the addition, removal and changing of status for conferees.

  • Patent number: 4793001
Abstract: A facial shield assembly for use by dental and medical personnel comprises a transparent plastic shield having a substantially flat front portion and a peripheral border portion extending continuously around the front portion to cover and embrace at least part of a wearer's face. Concave groove structures are provided at the sides of the peripheral border portion to receive a U-shaped band. The groove structures are held on the band by clips which embrace the groove structure. The groove structure and clips have converging walls so that the clip can be wedged onto the groove structures to hold them onto the support band.

  • Patent number: 4765645
Abstract: A foldable stroller includes a safety lock for maintaining the stroller in an unfolded use condition. The stroller comprises side frames which are connected together by scissor frames to move the side frames between open use positions and closed folded positions. To maintain the side frames in a spread use position, a two-part spreader bar is provided. A lock in the form of a spring loaded slide on one of the spreader bar parts includes a lock and guide pin which engages a detente in the other spreader bar part to maintain the spreader bar part in an aligned condition. This avoids an inadvertant folding of the stroller. To permit folding of the stroller this slide is pushed to the side disengaging the pin from the detente and permitting the spreader bar parts to be lifted. This allows the side frames to collapse toward each other resulting in the folding of the stroller.

  • Patent number: 4732566
Abstract: A power line includes a plug having four wire connection sites and a line cord having four conductors each conducted to a respective wire connection site. Two of the sites are connected to the two power conducting blades of the plug and the remaining two wires are connected to a single grounding prong of the plug. An extension cord can be made by attaching a female socket to opposite ends of the wires, the female socket also having four wire connection sites. The plug and line cord can also be connected directly to a device having four wire connection sites.

  • Patent number: 4725071
Abstract: A foldable Tandem Stroller includes a main back which can be folded down to form a bed for a single child. A secondary back can be brought to an upright position exposing a seat portion and foot holds for the main back which is then in its lowered position. The main back includes an upright portion which can support the back, and a seat portion, which can support the bottom of a child sitting in the rear of the stroller. The same stroller can thus be used as a Tandem Stroller for two children or as a sleeping stroller or carriage for a single child.

  • Patent number: 4721936
Abstract: A time variable thermostat comprising, a housing, a clock connected to the housing and having a shaft which is rotatable with time and a disc connected to the shaft for rotation with the shaft. The disc has a plurality of circumferentially spaced slots each extending radially of the disc. A temperature responsive switch has an actuator movable with a change of temperature and the switch includes contacts which are closed and open depending on a position of the actuator. A double control arm is connected to the actuator and is movable with respect to the housing about a center of rotation and a pin slidably mounted to each slot and having a stop portion extending beyond the disc against which the control arm is engageable to influence closing and opening of the contacts. One arm includes a pin engagement portion movable in an arc with movement of the arm about the center of rotation.

  • Patent number: 4706312
Abstract: A double action securing device for the drop side of a crib comprises a guide member connected to the crib or to the drop side in a vertically oriented position. A slide member is slidably mounted to the guide member between two positions for raising and lowering the drop side. A catch pin is axially mounted to the slide member and engageable with an opening of the guide member in at least one of the relative positions. The catch pin has a head which defines a recess for embracing a lower edge of the guide member opening. The weight of the slide member causes the head recess to drop over the lower edge of the opening to lock the slide member with respect to the guide member.A mattress support is used with the securing device. It has a frame defining a space comprising four vertical brackets connected to four posts of the crib frame. Each bracket has a plurality of vertically spaced open ended slots with open mouths of each slot facing toward a centerline of the crib.
