Abstract: An electric jack for receiving a plug to form the electric connection therebetween includes a main body made of electrically insulated resin and a plurality of movable contact strips. The main body has formed therein; a central hole through which the plug is insertable in an axial direction; a plurality of contact strip-clamping recesses extending in a direction perpendicular to the axial direction, the recesses being arranged in parallel with each other in the axial direction; a plurality of contact strip-fitting holes each being communicated with respective recesses; and a window portion through which the recesses are communicated with the central hole. The movable contact strip has a fitting portion to be inserted into the fitting hole of the main body and a contact portion to be clamped into the recess of main body. When the movable contact strip is inserted into the main body, the contact portion of movable contact strip is partially projected into the central hole through the window portion.

Abstract: A device for restringing and recovering a drawstring from a garment channel which is capable of use both in restringing and in recovering a drawstring from a garment channel. The device comprises a rod, one end of which is adapted to recover and retain a cord of the type typically used as a drawstring in garment channels. The cord retaining end utilizes a bite formed by a loop in the rod. The bite retains and allows for recovery of the drawstring.

Abstract: A lure plug for fishing including a plug body made of wood or plastics and having a slot extending in a longitudinal direction of the plug body, a hook rotatably secured to the plug body between a position within the slot and a position exposed out of the plug body, a resilient body provided in the slot such that the hook is biased into the position within the slot, and an operating member movably provided in the slot. When a fish bites the lure plug, the operating member pushes the hook out of the plug body against a resilient biasing force of the resilient body. When the fish discharges the lure plug, the hook is automatically returned into the position within the plug body, so that the lure plug is effectively prevented from being picked up by obstcles.

Abstract: A method of removing low levels of ethylene oxide (1% by volume or less) from ethylene oxide contaminated gases is provided. The removal is effected by contacting the ethylene oxide with a solid, cationic ion exchange resin at conditions such that the quantity of water present in the reaction zone is at a level such that the reaction of the ethylene oxide with resin occurs at a gas-solid interface to form an ethylene oxide derivative polymer which is bound to said resin.

Abstract: A closed type heating apparatus including a base plate to be placed on a floor or a bed, a space defining member having supports in the form of a pillar; a straight wall or a curved wall and an upper plate having a number of openings formed therein; and a heat conducting top plate placed on the upper plate. By combining different kinds of supports, there is formed a desired air passage within a closed space formed by the base plate and the upper plate. A heater unit including a ceramic heater and a blower is arranged in the air passage to generate a heated air stream such that the heating apparatus produces a desired temperature distribution.

Abstract: An improved release medium is disclosed for use in the production of decorative laminates by pressure consolidation. The release medium comprises a self-sustaining release sheet having at least one of its surfaces coated with a composition comprised of mineral particles dispersed in a resinous matrix. The release medium may be used to apply an abrasion-resistant coating to the surface of a decorative laminate during production of the laminate by pressure consolidation.

Abstract: A gas mask filter material is described comprising a dried acidic ion exchange resin which is effective in removing low levels of ethylene oxide from air contaminated therewith. Specifically described is a gas mask filter comprising a cross-linked polystyrene resin with sulfonic acid functionality that contains less than about 20 percent by weight water.

Abstract: A tap holder for detachably securing a tool to a machine tool including a main portion having a shank which is to be secured to a main shaft of the machine tool, a quick change portion having a float shaft which is inserted into a hole formed in the main portion and a quick change mechanism including a clamp collar, a first coiled spring for pressing the clamp collar toward the main portion, steel balls arranged in holes formed in the float shaft, a supporting ring slidably inserted into the float shaft and a second coiled spring for pressing the supporting ring toward a tool, and a tool supporting portion including a driven shaft whose rear end has a recess formed therein and is inserted into the float shaft and a torque control mechanism. By moving the clamp collar toward the main portion against the resilient force of the first coiled spring, the engagement between the steel balls and the recess of the driven shaft is released and the tool holding portion is removed from the quick change portion.

Abstract: An over-the-rod garment bag adapted for use with ventilated metal shelving is described. Ventilated metal shelving is comprised of a relatively thin wire clothing rod that is supported along its length by a plurality of upwardly extending support rods. The described clothing bag has a top with a transverse split extending across the middle thereof. At the split, hook and loop sealing means allow for sealing at location(s) where the rods supporting the clothing rod extend upwardly through the top of the clothing bag. Also on each side of the garment bag, a universal sealing element comprised of radially extending score lines adaptable for use with either ventilated metal shelving or other types of clothing rod closet arrangements is described.

Abstract: A fall protection safety device is disclosed which is suitable for use in environments wherein suspended particulate matter is present. The device comprises an elongated tubular housing having an upper end guide block with a centrally located opening therein and a lower end guide block with a centrally located opening therein. The lower guide block has a plurality of openings spaced apart from and around its centrally located opening. A safety line is threaded within the tubular housing and movement thereof is prevented by camming a line-gripping ball and cage arrangement associated with a piston upwardly within a conical bore of a wedging ring. The piston has a centrally located opening through which the safety line is threaded and a serrated outer surface adjacent to and circumscribed by the inner surface of the elongate tubular housing.

Abstract: A method for the treatment of an aqueous effluent slime derived from a tar sand extraction process is disclosed. The effluent slime pH is adjusted to an acidic pH and treated with an anionic surface active agent to create flocculation of solid asphaltic material entrained within the slime. A solvent solution comprising chlorinated hydrocarbon and a solvent therefor is added so that upon centrifuging of the treated slime three physical layers of material comprising (1) water; (2) asphaltics in the solvent solution and (3) clay are formed.

Abstract: A portion of higher O.sub.2 content lignite or brown coal is mixed with bituminous coal to provide exothermic conditions and reduce extraneous heat to the liquefaction reactor. In addition, with a crude oil carrying stream for the coal to the reactor there can be conversion at the controlled heating of 380.degree. to 400.degree. C., and in the presence of H.sub.2 and CO at 100 to 200 atmospheres a maximizing of distillate from the crude and a high conversion of coal to liquified distillate.

Abstract: A boxing glove is disclosed herein which is made of a unitary piece of leather on the frontal portion of the same so as to eliminate the seam which normally transcends the inner bottom of the thumb portion and the striking surface of the glove. The glove may be made of Nappa leather and contains all the seams present therein in the interior portion of the palm.

Abstract: A method of hydrorefining an asphaltenic charge stock is described which comprises effecting said reaction utilizing a titanium sulfide catalyst in a hydrogen sulfide-containing H.sub.2 atmosphere. The catalyst may be employed in slurry form or composited with a high surface area coke support. Preferably chloride is also present in the catalyst. The hydrogen sulfide suitably is present in the gas phase in an amount of from about 10 to about 25 mol. percent based on the moles of H.sub.2 present.
