  • Patent number: 6815691
Abstract: A carousel and first and second members have common axes in a first direction. The carousel, preferably cylindrical, has a ring-shaped configuration defined by inner and outer diameters. The first member has an outer diameter preferably contiguous to the carousel inner diameter. The second member has an inner diameter preferably contiguous to the carousel outer diameter. The carousel is divided into compartments by vanes. The carousel rotates at a substantially constant speed past radiation directed by an accelerator in the first direction. When a fault occurs in the system operation, (1) the carousel and radiation stop and (2) the carousel reverses in direction. When the fault is resolved, the carousel moves in the forward direction at the substantially constant speed and the radiation resumes at the position where the article was being irradiated at the time that the fault occurred.

  • Patent number: 6588159
Abstract: A jamb assembly for a door and/or window opening in a wall, wherein a jamb member and a fascia member are mechanically connected, by various expedients that do not involve making a screw of nail hole in the fascia member. Such expedients include protrusion-and-groove connection and adhesive attachment.

  • Patent number: 6057497
Abstract: A decorative display device comprising figurines arranged in tiered first and second scenes, one scene being placed above the other. Each of the upper and lower tier scenes is coupled to a wind-up drive and music box mechanism and when rotated appears to be in synchronization with the music. The rotatable and music synchronized scenes are more noticeable and aesthetically pleasing and, thus, provide a more interesting display. The upper and lower tier scenes may rotate simultaneously, at different speeds (but in the same direction), in opposite directions, in opposite directions at different speeds, or one scene may rotate while the other scene remains stationary.

  • Patent number: 5934061
Abstract: An apparatus for assembling and disassembling roller chain and the like is provided. The apparatus includes a base portion made up of a baseplate and side plates, a rotatable cam and an interchangeable die set inserted into the base portion which is in contact with the cam. The die set is sized to fit a particular type and size of chain. The particular die set may be designed to punch out connecting pins in a link of the chain. Alternatively, the die set may be for purposes of installing a link plate onto connecting pins or for purposes of deforming the ends of connecting pins during the assembly process.

  • Patent number: 5772084
Abstract: An storage tube for storing extender tubes for spray cans is provided. The storage tube of the present invention includes a hollow tube having an internal constriction along its length. The constriction acts to releasably retain a storage tube inserted therein. The storage tube may be attached to spray cans and the like.

  • Patent number: 5721737
Abstract: A serial transmission system for controlling a network of input/output devices is provided. The serial transmission system includes: a three wire serial link; a master unit for controlling communication over the serial link; multiple input remote units for receiving information from the input devices; and multiple output remote units for controlling the output devices. The master unit includes a programmable optically isolated microcontroller adapted to initiate a synchronous data link control (SDLC) communications protocol with the remote units. In addition the master unit includes memory tables for storing input/output, error, diagnostic, status and node availability information. This information can be shared with a PC or host controller. In addition, the PC or host controller can include programs for directing the master unit and remote units to initialize, reset, scan, or maintain an idle condition.

  • Patent number: 5670415
Abstract: A method and apparatus for vacuum depositing a coating onto a substrate are provided. The method includes the steps of: introducing an evaporant into a magnetically defined deposition region of a vacuum process chamber, ionizing the evaporant to form a plasma; generating a "magnetic bottle" magnetic field configuration to define the deposition region and to confine the plasma to the deposition region, further increasing the percentage ionization of the plasma to form a highly ionized media; creating a static dc electric field that is generally perpendicular to the magnetic field in the deposition region and parallel to the plane of the substrate; and then moving the substrate through the highly ionized media with the plane of the substrate and its direction of motion generally parallel to the magnetic field lines. The method of the invention is particularly suited to deposition of any atomistic evaporant onto intermediate-sized substrates.

  • Patent number: 5486287
Abstract: A strainer device for preventing particulate matter from entering a drain system is provided. The device includes a strainer frame including a box portion and a flange portion. The box portion includes a primary outlet for liquids which is covered by a filtering device. Additionally, the box portion includes at least one secondary outlet along a side wall of the box portion, which is also covered by a filtering device. The present strainer device is designed such that when the primary outlet becomes clogged, liquid can flow through at least one of the secondary outlets. The flanged portion of the device is designed to overlap and extend beyond the sink or receptacle in which the strainer device is placed. The annular flange defines the inlet of the strainer device and includes a tapered portion and a grate recess in which a grate can be placed.

  • Patent number: 5445071
Abstract: A steam spray tube with an inlet line (16) for steam, a nozzle arrangement (33) and a valve (19) positioned between the inlet line and the nozzle arrangement is described. With such a steam spray tube, adequate moistening of a web to be moistened can be assured even at high web velocities. To do so, an essentially straight acceleration channel (35) is arranged downstream from valve (19) in the direction of flow of the steam and a nozzle channel (36) to the nozzle arrangement (33) branches off from the acceleration channel at a predetermined distance from the end (37) of the acceleration channel (35).
