Abstract: A removable device for preventing air from drying the liquid of a spray can nozzle. A metal ring having a fibrous plug is pre-soaked in non-evaporative liquid. The plug surrounds and is in physical contact with the spray nozzle orifice to prevent air from entering the nozzle assembly.
Abstract: There is disclosed a disposable and non-reusable syringe which has its piston locked in its forward dispense position after it is used, and the plunger is pulled out from the piston if the plunger is sought to be retracted from the syringe. The non-reusable syringe is so constructed to prevent the piston from reengaging with the plunger, even if the plunger is retracted and sought to be reinserted.
Abstract: A portable heating appliance having a member to be heated, includes first and second burners for heating the member; a portable fuel cartridge for supplying fuel to the burners, the furel cartridge including a fuel delivery valve for controlling the flow of fuel from the fuel cartridge, the fuel delivery valve including a control device for preventing the flow of fuel when in a first position and for permitting the flow of fuel when in a second, different position, and a first spring for biasing the control device to the first position; a plunger for actuating the fuel delivery valve in response to user actuation to start the flow of fuel from the fuel cartridge, the plunger pushing in the control device from the first position to the second position against the force of the spring to open the fuel delivery valve so that the latter permits the flow of fuel to the burners; the fuel cartridge further including a ring rotatably mounted on the housing of the cartridge and connected with the fuel delivery valve fo
Abstract: A convertible hair roller includes first and second flexible outer sheets connected together in parallel spaced relation, two parallel memory wires positioned between the sheets and capable of repeated deformation between a straight configuration and a circular configuration, with each memory wire automatically deforming from the straight configuration to the circular configuration upon application of heat of a predetermined temperature thereto so that the first and second sheets also automatically deform into a cylindrical configuration; and heat sink wires positioned transversely with respect to the memory wires between the first and second sheets for retaining heat applied to the hair roller. When heat is removed from the formed memory wires, they retain their circular configuration, but can be manually biased back to their flat configurations.
Abstract: A method of manufacturing adhesively-securable, fingernail coatings and an adhesively-securable fingernail covering product, too. The nail polish-like material is provided in semi-solid form on a sheet of adhesive-backed peel-off paper, which, when removed, exposes the adhesive of the fingernail coatings. The fingernail coatings are, after removal from a substantially air-tight package, cut into individual sections, located on the fingernails and pressed onto the fingernails to secure them there, temporarily, i.e., until they are desirably removed. The edges can then be cut to the length and width, as well as the curvature of the nail on which they are placed. The semi-solid nail enamel product is originally sealed in an air tight envelope to ensure that the coatings do not fully dry out during shipping and storage.
Abstract: Dice game methods involving three dice and a doubling cube. The methods involve the providing of an objective total count to be reached to win the game, assigning a value to each face of the dice, permitting a first player to continue rolling as long as a certain minimum value is achieved for each roll, establishing an initial entry level beyond which the player can retain an accumulated count, permitting a player to stop rolling to fix his cumulative count and recommence accumulating a count during his next roll, returning the count to the last stopped cumulative count if the player does not achieve the minimum value on a given roll, and allowing the player whose turn is about to begin to offer the doubling cube to the opponent whereby the stakes are doubled if the opponent accepts the doubling cube or the game is won by the offering player if the opponent refuses to accept the doubling cube.
Abstract: A double face jewelry setting includes a base formed by a first base section and a second base section in parallel, spaced relation to said first base section, each base section including a plurality of through bores for holding a plurality of gemstones on first and second sides of the base, such that the bores of the first base section are in alignment with the bores of the second base section; and a plurality of posts extending along the inner and outer edges of the first and second base sections for securing a plurality of first gemstones on the first base section in at least a substantially abutting relation and for securing a plurality of second gemstones on the second base section in at least a substantially abutting relation, the posts being bendable to retain the gemstones thereon; and each pair of adjacent gemstones on each base section are retained on the base section by a common one of the posts; such that different gemstones can be retained and displayed on the first and second opposite sides of t
Abstract: A water-tight endoscope comprising a flexible tube zone, a handle zone and a guide tube zone is disclosed. Each of the flexible tube zone, the handle zone and the guide tube zone has a water-tight structure, and moreover, a connecting part for each zone has a water-tight structure. An opening for connecting the interior of the endoscope to the outer air is formed in the guide tube zone and a waterproof and breathable filter is arranged in this opening. By this arrangement, the interior of the endoscope is connected to the outer air through the waterproof and breathable filter.
Abstract: A system for producing spectrally pure optical pumping light at a resonant frequency is disclosed for molecular species and atomic isotopes. A Faraday filter is used as a transmission filter, and the frequency overlap between the output of a light source containing the atomic or molecular material and the spectrum of the Faraday filter allows optically pure pumping light to emanate from the filter. Cross-polarizers are used to further reduce background noise.
Abstract: An angle portion of an endoscope comprising a flexible tube having a polydirectional distal tip. A series of four-directional rings are arranged to form the rear part of the angle portion, a series of two-directional rings are subsequently arranged to form the front part of the angle portion, and the distal tip is connected to the top end of the front part of the angle portion.
Abstract: A combination of a glove worn by a user and a ball and stretchable member removably attached to the glove is disclosed. The ball is permanently attached to one end of the stretchable member, and the other end is attached to an anchor which is removably attached to the palm of the glove, so that the user can slap the ball and be assured of its return. The stretchable member is adjustable in size and the ball may be of any desired size and structure. Additionally, the glove may be worn on either hand.
Abstract: An amusement device is comprised of a dumbbell arrangement including a first thin semi-spherical half shell having a first open end, a second thin semi-spherical half shell having a second open end, a first foam filler material secured in the first half shell and extending partially out of the first open end to define a first non-skid playing surface, a second foam filler material secured in the second half shell and extending partially out of the second open end to define a second non-skid playing surface, and a telescoping connecting shaft connecting the first and second half shells, the shaft extending through the first and second filler materials and having opposite ends for connecting the first and second half shells, respectively, the shaft having a length sufficient to separate the first and second half shells in spaced apart relation with the first and second playing surfaces in spaced, opposing relation and to collapse the dumbbell arrangement into a ball configuration; and a baton for twirling the d
Abstract: A method of forming knife blades from a flat section of pre-hardened metal such that each blade has a predetermined shape, includes the steps of photo-chemically etching a plurality of blanks from the section of metal so that each blank has a respective predetermined shape; and sharpening at least one edge of each blank by grinding the at least one edge.
Abstract: A plastic base for use with a cylindrical flask for the elimination of wax patterns prepared for making metal castings by the lost wax process is identified. The base is made of a plastic material which is used in place of conventionally found rubber bases. The base is constructed of a thin-walled resilient plastic material and allows for direct set up of the wax patterns, as well as increased speed in the preparation of the plaster mold in the cylinder for making metal castings. The plastic base comprises an inner annular raised platform comprising a shoulder and the cylindrical flask is pressed on the shoulder deforming the plastic about the bottom edge of the flask to form a seal between the base and flask.
