Abstract: In rows (1) of data elements (11, 12), there may occur special data elements, such as control characters. By replacing each special data element (12) by a replacement data element (14), which contains a positional indication of a next special data element (12′) and which does not correspond to a special data element (12), it is possible to reproducibly remove all special data-elements from the row (1) without the length of the row increasing essentially. only one single supplementary data element (13) is required for transmitting the positional indication of the first special data element.

Abstract: Known transcoders for compressed video signals comprise a decoder and a coder coupled thereto, between which a data signal is transmitted. Because compressed video signals comprise so-called difference pictures and normal pictures, both the decoder and the coder should have a feedback loop which is utilized in decoding and coding a difference picture and is not utilized in decoding and coding a normal picture. For example, for the purpose of prediction means (motion compensation and motion estimation) present in the feedback loop of the coder, much computation has to be carried out in the coder. The computation required is considerably reduced by concomitantly transmitting one or more information signals in addition to the data signal in a transcoder according to the invention, and complete decoding and complete coding no longer takes place.

Abstract: This invention relates to a process and to absorbent material for isolating coagulation factors, including FVIII and vWF, from the example blood plasma and plasma products by means of liquid chromatography. The adsorbent material comprises a polymeric carrier to which amino groups are linked as ligands through spacers. The spacers have a chain length of at least 6 atoms and contain at least one hydrophilic link within the chain. The spacers preferably have the formula --(CH.sub.2).sub.m --CO--NH--(CH.sub.2).sub.n -- wherein m and n each represent an integer of 1-6 and m+n is at least 4. The spacers are preferably linked to the carrier through --CO--NH-- groups. The ligand density in the absorbent material is preferably higher than 30 umoles/ml of swollen matrix.
