  • Patent number: 5902258
Abstract: A massaging device driven by a water wheel and having a plurality of fingers spread in concentric rings about an arched cover. The fingers are supported in and actuated by a rotating camming platform including a series of concentric camming surfaces with curved bases and irregularly shaped annular sidewalls. The fingers are reciprocated along their vertical axes to create a wave-like motion relative to the cover. Concurrently, the fingers are actuated to pivot about a central transverse axis defined by pin members located on opposite sides of the fingers. When driven by a water wheel, the device contains a water channel along its base, which channel extends to a water chamber containing the water wheel. The wheel is turned by water flow through the chamber thereby rotating the camming platform to which it is coupled by way of gears.

  • Patent number: 5765312
Abstract: An access panel for installation over an opening in panelling of a wall or ceiling of a structure includes a plate having two opposite side edges and a positioning flange extending rearwardly from a rear surface of the plate, this flange being located inwardly from adjacent edges. The panel includes two elongate clamping elements, each extending towards a respective one of the side edges from a central region of the plate attached to a rear side of the plate. Each clamping element is made of a resilient springy material so that an outer end portion can be pulled away from the plate during installation. These elements are used to secure the panel to opposite sides of the opening. Preferably each clamping element has a special profile to enable fast and easy installation over the opening.

  • Patent number: 5732490
Abstract: A perpetual calendar has a top sheet member having several viewing apertures formed therein. The top sheet displays on a top surface thereof in seven vertical columns the dates of the month from one to twenty-eight. One of the apertures is positioned to display up to three additional dates of the month after the numeral 28. An intermediate substrate layer is disposed beneath the top sheet and is rotatably mounted thereto. This substrate displays on a top surface thereof data for indicating days of the week, which is displayable through one of the apertures. A bottom substrate or sheet is disposed beneath the intermediate substrate and is rotatably mounted with respect to the other two substrates or sheets. This substrate layer displays on a top surface thereof the 12 months of the year and also month ending date or dates for months having more than 28 days.

  • Patent number: 5713832
Abstract: The present invention relates to a massaging device and vibrator for providing soothing vibrations to the body of a user. One aspect of the massaging device includes an article of furniture, a vibrator comprised of an electric motor with an eccentric rotor, and means for attaching the vibrator to the article of furniture so that the rotor rotates and induces vibrations in a plane that is parallel to the user contacting surface of the furniture. The vibrator itself is constructed to enable it to be easily attached to articles of furniture that are constructed in various ways from varying materials. A further aspect of the massaging device comprises a pad device having a soft, flexible, upper supporting surface, and a vibrating device with an eccentric rotor mounted in the pad device so that the rotor has an axis of rotation that is generally perpendicular to the upper supporting surface of the pad.

  • Patent number: 5697453
Abstract: A subsurface weed tool which makes use of a variety of different detachable blade attachments to cut the roots of and other plants. The tool can be provided with a variety of different attachments, permitting it to be used for other purposes such as aeration of the soil, removal of sod strips and lawn and garden edging. The tool comprises an elongate hollow supporting member having an upper end on which is mounted a motor. An elongate drive shaft or rod is operatively connected to the motor and extends through the supporting member to the latter's lower end. A reciprocating drive unit is mounted on this lower end and includes a drive conversion mechanism connected to the bottom end of the drive shaft and capable of converting rotary motion to a reciprocating linear motion in a certain direction. A blade attachment is connectible to the conversion mechanism and can include a planar blade member with a forward cutting edge.

  • Patent number: 5669190
Abstract: A detachable panel or grill for covering an opening in panelling of a wall or ceiling or in an appliance. The panel can be installed quickly and rigidly without the need for any special framing. The panel or grill can be installed or removed by the rotation of a single screw which passes through a threaded opening in an elongate fastening arm. The arm extends generally parallel to an inner surface of the panel during use thereof. The arm is pivotable relative to the panel between a first position usable for insertion of the arm into the opening and a second position used for clamping the panel to edge structure defining the opening. A slideway is connected to an inner surface of the panel and limits the extent of pivotal movement of the arm. The screw extends through a hole in the panel and connects the arm to the panel. A spring biases the arm so that it pivots towards the second position.

  • Patent number: 4483327
Abstract: A machine for relieving stress and anxiety in the absence of any electric field having a transporting device with a supportive surface adapted to carry a human body through a circular movement. A rotary drive mechanism moves the transport device along a circular path. In one embodiment the supportive surface is elongate and carries the human body in the reclining position. In this embodiment the transport device rotates in a vertical plane about a horizontal axis. In another embodiment the transport device is in the form of a chair adapted to carry a sitting human body. In the latter embodiment, the chair rotates in a horizontal plane about a vertical axis. A mechanical linkage is connected to the transport device to maintain the same directional orientation of the supportive surface as the transport device moves along the circular path. A method for relieving stress in a human body using the two forms of the machine is also taught.
