  • Patent number: 4006546
Abstract: A back-lighted display arrangement including a soft, compressible opaque light baffle sandwiched between a lamp assembly and a display panel. The light baffle has a grid-like configuration defining a plurality of compartments each of which is arranged to receive a different one of a plurality of lamps supported by the lamp assembly and to direct light emitted by the lamp onto a different one of a plurality of display areas of the display panel. The light baffle establishes a positive light-tight seal between the baffle and the lamp assembly and display panel for preventing light in one compartment from escaping into an adjacent compartment.

  • Patent number: 3995103
Abstract: An electrical bussing and jumper assembly for use with electrical switching devices such as circuit breakers in a three-phase distribution system. The bussing and jumper assembly comprises a plurality (three) of relatively thin, wide, bus plates stacked together in a compact sandwich-like array. Each of the plates has a plurality of jumper portions extending transversely through openings or cutouts provided in the bus plates superimposed thereover. The bus plates are insulated from each other by means of insulative coatings (e.g., of polyvinyl chloride) formed on the plates and also by means of sheets of insulative material (e.g., of polyethylene terephthalate) disposed between the coated bus plates and having openings therein aligned with the openings in the bus plates. Switching devices for use in a current distribution system are attached to the jumper portions of the bus plates, using threaded openings provided in the jumper portions.

  • Patent number: 3986019
Abstract: A lighting fixture adapted to be mounted to a support structure and wired with a minimum expenditure of time and labor. The lighting fixture includes an enclosure member defining a space for containing a power supply for the fixture, a support and wiring tray to which the power supply is mounted, a pair of hinge members jointly attached with the enclosure member and the support and wiring tray, and a cover and enclosure member removably attached to the hinge members by means of associated pairs of threaded bolts. In a typical installation procedure for the lighting fixture, the fixture is first mounted to a support structure by means of an attachment member secured to the cover and enclosure member, and one of the pairs of threaded bolts is removed from its associated hinge member to allow the remaining portion of the fixture to swing away and to hang suspended from the other pair of threaded bolts. As a result, the installer of the fixture has both hands free to perform the required wiring connections.

  • Patent number: 3977640
Abstract: Metal mounting brackets for mounting electrical wiring boxes to studs. A metal mounting bracket in accordance with a first embodiment of the invention is basically Z-shaped and includes a first flat portion adapted to be attached to an electrical wiring box, a second flat portion generally normal to the first portion and including a pair of generally U-shaped stud-embracing members, and a third flat portion generally normal to the second portion and having a pair of spaced, initially-flat pair of tabs extending outwardly from an edge thereof, each of the tabs having a pair of stud-biting teeth extending therefrom. The third portion further has a pair of tool-receiving openings therein, each adjacent to a corresponding one of the tabs and arranged to receive a standard adjustable plier. In mounting a wiring box to a stud, for example, to a metal stud, the U-shaped members of the second portion of the bracket are first arranged by an installer to embrace a first corner region of the stud.

  • Patent number: 3968624
Abstract: A connector fixture for joining a first structural member to a second structural member. The second structural member includes a central bore and a pair of lug receiving apertures disposed at a predetermined distance on opposite sides of the central bore. The first structural member includes a central bore adapted to register with the central bore of the second structural member and in addition has a pair of outwardly extending lugs which register with and are received in the lug receiving apertures in the second structural member, thereby properly positioning the first and second structural members relative to each other. A connector, such as a bolt and nut, is then inserted through the central bore of the first and second structural members to clamp the members together.

  • Patent number: 3965451
Abstract: A mounting arrangement for mounting a ballast transformer to a structural support member. As employed in accordance with the invention, the ballast transformer has an opening through the core portion thereof. A pair of L-shaped mounting members are mounted to the ballast transformer by means of a pair of elongated, compressible mounting pins, commonly known as "rollpins," which are driven through openings in the vertical portions of the L-shaped mounting members into opposite entrances of the opening in the ballast transformer. The mounting members are then secured to the structural support member by means of threaded fasteners which are inserted through openings in the structural support member and threaded into openings in the horizontal portions of the L-shaped mounting members. The threaded fasteners are selected to have lengths so that the threaded portions thereof will extend past the exposed ends of the mounting pins and be immediately adjacent thereto.
