  • Patent number: 5048884
Abstract: An apparatus for assisting the manual loading and unloading of bottles into and out of cases comprising a guide plate, a bottle holder, a bottle holder actuating mechanism, and a handle. The bottle holder comprises a pair of flaps pivotally connected to the guide plate, the flaps being adjacent and parallel to one another, and the flaps being movable between a closed and an open position. The flaps have a bottle retaining structure for retaining the bottles in the bottle holder. Each flap of the pair of flaps of the bottle holder has a pivot axis about which the flaps may pivot. The pivot axis is located below a plane defined by the tops of the bottles when the bottles are retained by the bottle retaining structure. The flaps are selectively moved between the open and the closed position by the bottle holder actuating mechanism, capturing the bottles within the bottle retaining structure.

  • Patent number: 5036643
Abstract: An improved form, fill, seal and separate packaging machine for reclosable containers is accomplished by a plurality of stations disposed along a path of travel of a thermoplastic web including means to attach a pair of mated, resealable closure strips to the base web. The machine is intermittent in its operation, with movement of the web through the machine controlled so that the various steps of applying the closure strips, forming, filling, sealing and separating the reclosable containers are performed during periodic stops of the machine. The machine is further characterized by its use of two pairs of web belts to move the web through the machine. A first pair of web belts initially receive the folded web stock and partially form and completely fill the containers. The second pair of web belts overlap with the downstream end of the first pair of belts, but are disposed lower than the first belts.

  • Patent number: 4972561
Abstract: A procedure is described for providing an angled pin seam on a papermakers felt in which a base fabric is woven with a selectively joinable pin seam to form a continuous loop of the base fabric, skewing that base fabric and its seam by displacing one of the lateral edges of the fabric longitudinally of the machine direction relative to the opposed lateral edge while maintaining the machine direction yarns extending substantially in the machine direction, thus skewing the seam relative to the machine direction and to the cross machine direction, and in which batt material is needled into the base fabric while the base fabric is maintained in the skewed condition, whereby the needled batt maintains the fabric in its skewed condition.

  • Patent number: 4947715
Abstract: A lathe and a method of using the lathe are disclosed for forming an aspheric surface on a workpiece, in which the workpiece is mounted to a holder that is rotatably carried by the spindle, headstock and bed of a lathe, with that spindle and workpiece being rotated about the axis of the spindle with the workpiece being engaged by a forming tool which forming tool is moved through an arcuate path about an axis that is generally transverse to the spindle axis. The method and apparatus provide further for determining the time-varying angular position of the forming tool along the arcuate path, for determining the time-varying angular position of a point on the workpiece about the spindle axis and for reciprocating the workpiece holder and the workpiece held thereby relative to the lathe headstock and to the forming tool in synchronization with the movement of the forming tool and with the rotation of the workpiece about the spindle axis to form the desired contoured surface.
