Abstract: A seismic construction system for use in anchored veneer wall constructions which utilizes an inner and an outer wythe includes a veneer anchor member which is attached to the vertical channel of an inner wythe, a tie member which is attached to the veneer anchor member, a clip member which is attached to the tie member and a continuous reinforcing wire secured to the clip member which is embedded in the mortar joint together with the clip member during the construction of the outer wythe. The continuous reinforcing wire, the clip and the tie member, once embedded in the mortar joint, form a rigid connection which provides a high degree of seismic protection yet facilitates rapid and cost saving construciton.
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a safety closure for a sparkling wine bottle which closure comprises a specially constructed cork member having a head portion, a base portion and a stem or shank portion interposed between said head and base portions with the base portion being provided with gas pervious means to permit the passage of pressurized gas from beneath the base portion, past the shank portion and then outwardly of the opening in the neck of the bottle. The foregoing is the structure by which the pressurized gas is safely and effectively dispelled from the bottle while concomitantly providing the aural popping associated with the opening of a bottle of sparkling wine but preventing the forcible propulsion of the cork member outwardly of the bottle, due to the frictional engagement of the base portion with the neck of the bottle.
Abstract: In a multi-color, multi-station screen printer, a first assembly comprising a plurality of screens is mounted coaxially with a second assembly comprising a plurality of workpiece supporting pallets. In one embodiment, of the method of the present invention, where only a single operator is required, the plurality of pallets do not rotate but the plurality of screens are selectively displaced in unison and in one angular direction. In another embodiment of the method of the present invention, where three operators are utilized, the plurality of screens and the plurality of pallets rotate, each in unison, about a common, vertical axis in both angular directions. A combination of four screens and three pallets are described but other combinations are possible. Large and small articles may be printed in a single cycle.
Abstract: A veneer anchor for use in a dry wall construction system which anchor comprises a plate member having a vertically projecting bar portion secured thereto and disposed in substantially parallel relationship with said plate member. The plate member includes end members disposed in substantially perpendicular relationship with respect to said plate member with the end members being bifurcated and having a pronged outer end configuration. The anchor is employed to secure a wall board or insulation layer to a vertical channel or standard framing member and to thereafter maintain the structural integrity of securement of the anchor with respect to the channel or framing member, notwithstanding the ultimate shifting, deterioration or disposition of the wall board or insulation layer. Thereafter, a wall-tie is inserted between the plate member and the projecting bar portion and the wall-tie is built into the outer wythe of the wall system.
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for fabricating ophthalmic lenses of the single vision and bifocal type comprising a holder having a base portion for support thereof. An outer circumferential side wall extends upwardly from the base portion and terminates in an upper surface which is disposed in substantially parallel relationship of the bottom surface of the holder base portion. The side walls comprise a plurality of equally spaced support posts. The support posts are provided with a lower step and an upper step with the upper step being disposed radially outwardly of said lower step. The lower steps define a parallel support surface upon which there is disposed a lower mold. The upper steps define a parallel support surface upon which is disposed an upper mold. The upper and lower support surfaces being disposed in substantially parallel relationship.
Abstract: A grill-type window gate apparatus includes a frame which is mounted in a window opening and a grillwork panel which is movably mounted on the frame. A panel lock assembly is mounted on the grillwork panel and is capable of locking the grillwork panel to the frame when the grillwork panel is in a closed position. A window lock assembly is mounted on the frame and engages the grillwork panel when the same is in the closed position thereby locking a window assembly which is mounted in the window opening.
Abstract: A clothing accessory is provided which includes a base panel, the upper portion of which is bifurcated to form a pair of belt loop portions through which a wearer passes their belt thereby securing the accessory to the trousers in juxtaposition to one of the belt loops of the trousers. The lower portion of the base panel includes a pocket or similar receptacle for storage of personal objects. The pocket or receptacle may be formed integrally with the base panel or secured thereto.
Abstract: A multiple pocket clothing accessory is provided which includes a base panel, the upper portion of which has a pair of belt loops through which a wearer passes their belt thereby securing the device to his trousers. The lower portion of the base panel includes a tie string which the wearer ties around his thigh. A plurality of pockets including closed and open pockets are disposed on an intermediate portion of the base panel thereby providing both secure and convenient storage for personal objects.
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a liquid fifth wheel assembly for use with tractor and trailer combinations wherein the trailer includes a tank body for the storage and transportation of fluids, and the tractor includes a pumping station adapted to deliver the fluid stored in the tank. The fifth wheel assembly which is secured to the under side of the trailer has a central opening therein through which passes an enclosed dual concentric suction and discharge pipe structure interconnecting the tank and the pump station; the pipe structure including a swivel joint for permitting angular displacement of a portion of the enclosed pipe.
Abstract: A game apparatus is disclosed in which distinguishable sets of playing pieces are provided and with each player of the game receiving one of the sets for movement on the playing surface, which is divided into a grid-like array of spaces defining a path for movement of the pieces in either a horizontal or vertical direction. A plurality of corner starting zones to provide each player of the game with designated spaces for initial positioning of one of the sets therein is provided, as well as a plurality of distinguishable finishing zones to provide each player of the game with designated spaces to reach in order to win the game. A chance device is operable by players of the game apparatus for determining the possible number of spaces a particular playing piece shall move along the playing surface for movement from the starting zones to the finishing zones.
Abstract: A side glare device for attachment to a temple-bar of eyeglass frames and similar mounting structures, having a first glare shield member and a second glare shield member with overlapping surfaces for adjustment relative to each other along a common plane to vary the amount of light, and in particular sunlight, transmitted to the eyes of the wearer of the eyeglass frames from a lateral peripheral direction, means for coupling of the first and second members with respect to one another to permit relative positionment of the second member with respect to the first member along the common plane is provided. Means for permitting removable adjustable positional securement of the first member on the temple-bar for maintaining the device at the desired position upon the temple-bar, and means for positionally adjusting the angular orientation of the device with respect to said temple-bar from a raised elevation to a lowered elevation, is also provided.
Abstract: This disclosure pertains to apparatus for compacting trash comprising a compactor head and a portable refuse container having an open upper end positionable below and in substantially vertical alignment with the head. A foot operated treadle, when reciprocally manipulated, causes a relative joining motion between the head and the trash disposed within the confines of the container thereby compressing the trash. A release mechanism disengages the head and the container permitting the container and the head to be separated and the removal of the container from below the head; thereafter, more waste may be inserted in the container.
