Abstract: A baby entertainment and learning apparatus for highchairs including a removable tray having in its top surface a series of pressure sensitive microswitches. A series of interchangeable tray top panels, each presenting a series of depressible picture blocks, may be selectively placed on the highchair tray for overlaying and activating the microswitches of the tray. Each tray top panel has a panel identity device. Circuitry components are mounted to the underside of the tray and include: an integrated circuit microchip within which is stored voice, sound and musical information; a low voltage battery power source; an audio speaker; and panel switches corresponding in number to the series of tray top panels and each positioned to interact with a single panel identity device.
Abstract: A flipper-type swimming propulsion aid assembly for attachment to the feet of a swimmer to increase the swimmer's effective foot area. The swimming aid for each foot includes a collapsible frame of generally isosceles triangular configuration having side frame members of substantially equal length which are pivotally joined through a heel plate at the heel end of the frame and a foldable cross frame member joining the toe ends of the side frame members. The swimming aid also includes a fabric or plastic sheet web component which is placed over the collapsed frame assembly and thereafter the side frame members are separated with the cross frame member opened and extended. The web component is provided with mating attachment straps affixed to the toe end of said web component and positioned to be wrapped about the cross frame member to maintain such member's open and extended orientation.
Abstract: A vacuum powered automatic swimming pool cleaning device having a hollow housing supported on two pairs of device mover wheels. The housing includes a central water suction chamber in water flow communication with a water suction trough at the bottom of the housing and in water outlet communication with an external vacuum line, a gear train for driving one of the pairs of mover wheels, and pivoted directional control floats. The water suction chamber houses an axle mounted turbine wheel bearing water driven vanes with the turbine being rotated in one direction only by water flow through the chamber. The turbine axle bears a turbine power output drive gear which intermeshes with one or the other of two shift gears which in turn reversibly drive the gear train as dictated by the position of the directional control floats within the housing.
Abstract: Cushions, mattresses and water float articles for body comfort, water safety and recreational use. The articles of the present invention include a light weight core structure fabricated of at least two stacked layers of two-ply laminated sheet plastic material encapsulating between the plys of each layer a multiplicity of uniformly arranged, separated and sealed air bubbles. The core structure is encased and sealed in a water impermeable cover of flexible sheet plastic material with the cover material maintaining the shape of the article.
Abstract: A one piece molded sheath for fixed blade knives having a blade portion and a contoured handle portion including a forefinger groove separated from the blade portion by a handle ridge. The sheath of the invention is comprised of a blade-contoured sheath pocket for receiving the blade portion and adjacent handle ridge of such knives. The molded sheath pocket has an elongated back wall, a shorter front wall and a pair of side walls interconnecting the front wall to the back wall. The back wall of the sheath pocket in its upper portion has molded-in belt loops for attaching the sheath to the belt of the wearer. A slot in the upper end of each of the side walls of the sheath pocket permit the forward and rearward flexing of the upper portion of the front wall with respect to the back wall by the handle ridge of such knives during insertion thereof into the sheath pocket and withdrawal thereof from such pocket.
Abstract: A biocompatible and pliable metallic surgical implant plate for use in the repair and rigid fixation of internal fractures of the floor and walls of the orbit. The implant plate includes an elongated base portion which is compliant for shaping to interface with the rim structure of the orbit. Three perforated leaf portions, spaced from one-another, project rearwardly from the elongated base portion. The central leaf portion is compliant for shaping to conform to the configuration of the orbit floor, one of the outboard leaf portions is compliant for shaping to conform to the medial wall of the orbit and the other outboard leaf portion is compliant for shaping to conform to the lateral wall of the orbit.
Abstract: A continuous process for removing sulfur oxide and nitrogen oxide contaminants from the flue gas generated by industrial power plants and boiler system burning sulfur containing fossil fuels. The sulfur oxide and nitrogen oxide contaminants removed from the flue gas are converted, respectively, into elemental liquid sulfur product, and into nitrogen gas, ammonia gas and mixtures thereof which are released to the atmosphere thus reducing industrial air pollution.
Abstract: A tape rule holder of the type used by carpenters, plumbers, electricians and other trades persons formed from two die cut flat pieces of heavy duty, top grain saddle leather. The back piece of the tape rule holder includes belt slots in its upper section. The front piece or pocket-forming member of the tape rule holder is configured in its flat pre-assembly form with peripheral side rivet areas and a bottom rivet area, each defined by a fold line. When the front piece is riveted to the back piece there is formed a tape rule pocket comprising a front wall, side walls and a bottom wall and the side walls present on their inner portion side pocket pressure detent ridges. A leather strap member is affixed to the back piece and has a forwardly arched portion within the tape rule pocket to form an inner back pressure ridge which together with the side detent ridges apply pressure to a tape rule inserted into the leather tape rule holder to grip and maintain the tape rule therein against accidental dislodgement.
