  • Patent number: 4253532
Abstract: An in-hole motor drill assembly has the rotor of the motor which may be connected to the drill bit through a shaft connected to the rotor, and a housing which may be connected to the running string, and normally disengaged torque transmitting members between said housing and said shaft. Means are provided for engaging said shaft and said housing for mutual rotation by exerting a negative force on said housing, if the bit is stuck. The shaft can be rotated by rotation of the housing in either direction when mounted in a well and the housing connected to a drill string and the shaft connected to a bit. In normal operation, during drilling, the housing is disengaged to permit the shaft to rotate relative to the housing.

  • Patent number: 4232751
Abstract: An in-hole motor drill assembly has the rotor of the motor connected to the drill bit by a slidable rotary drive connection, and normally disengaged torque transmitting members are engageable, if desired, to lock the bit and motor housing together for rotation of the bit by rotation of the motor housing. The torque transmitting members also interlock to prevent disengagement when an upward pull is applied during rotation of the bit.

Abstract: This invention relates to zeolites of the faujasite type generally referred to as X or Y zeolites which contain both aluminum and NH.sub.4 in exchange position and catalysts employing the same. The zeolite of our invention is derived from the sodium form of the zeolite by first exchanging the sodium form with an aluminum ion to replace a substantial portion of the sodium and further reducing the sodium content of the zeolite by exchange with an ammonium ion.

  • Patent number: 4220380
Abstract: A fluid lubricated bearing assembly for use with an in-hole fluid motor has a housing and a shaft supported in the housing by a plurality of stacked adjustable bearings, through which thrust is transmitted to the shaft from a single thrust transfer point in the housing. The thrust bearings are individually adjustable to eliminate tolerance and thrust elements transfer load from the housing to the bearings from the single thrust transfer point. In the preferred form, the thrust elements include a flow restrictor sleeve in thrust transmission relation with bearings at opposite sides thereof. The flow restrictor sleeve cooperates with a companion flow restrictor sleeve on the shaft to limit the flow of fluid through the bearings from the motor. Radial contact bearings at opposite ends of the flow restrictor support the flow restrictor sleeves to minimize wear and resist bending forces applied radially of the sleeves.

  • Patent number: 4199201
Abstract: An in-hole, fluid driven motor has a stator and a rotor to drive a bore hole drilling bit. The bit is connected to the rotor by a drive shaft rotatable in a bearing housing connected to the stator, and drilling fluid flows through the drive shaft and exits through the bit. Radial and thrust bearings include a first bearing which transmits thrust from the housing to the bit, while drilling, and a second bearing which transmits thrust to the housing from the shaft, when the bit is off the bottom of the hole. An adjustable lock nut is connected to the drive shaft and a ported cap which connects the drive shaft to a connecting rod coupled with the rotor, and permits alternate unloading of the first and second bearings and the elimination of increased bearing tolerances as wear occurs.
