Abstract: An electrode cleaning apparatus wherein a carbon electrode is maneuvered between a pair of spaced counterrotating vertical shafts having flailing elements connected thereto. This occurs within an enclosure having a lower hopper that directs flailed residue to an opening and onto an adjacent conveyor. The electrode is suspended within the enclosure by a hoist supported on a track which extends through the enclosure.
