  • Patent number: 5402714
Abstract: A fork segregating partitioning array for use with a fondue pot. The fondue pot is of the type defining a container with a large cavity to receive meltable foodstuff to be warmed by a heating source. The partitioning array consists of a cup member, freely releasably engageable into the container large cavity, and at least two partitioning walls disposed in crossing fashion relative to one another, whereby four distinct subcavities are defined within the cup member. The subcavities are for use in segregating a corresponding number of forks in cooking fondues such as meat fondue or chinese fondue. The cup member is further pierced by a plurality of through-bores, for free passage of the meat soup between the fondue pot and the cup member and vice-versa.

  • Patent number: 5400734
Abstract: A vehicle capable of going on public roads, on dirt roads, as well as over water. The vehicle includes two aft tracks and one front track, each track being powered by a hydraulic motor. The wheels are removably mounted to the tracks, and the wheel axles are operatively coupled to the corresponding hydraulic motors of the tracks. The tracks have a trapezoidal shape, which promotes the difficult transfer displacement of the vehicle from water to land, at the river bank edge. The tracks enclose buoyant material. Over water, the vehicle is powered by an outboard motor.

  • Patent number: 5394945
Abstract: The machine includes a frame adapted to move along spaced ridges planted with crop plants, frame support runners engaging the furrows between the ridges, a pair of transverse rows of weeding implements carried by the frame for movement along the ridges and furrows, the implements of one row disposed on one side of the plants and the implements of the other row disposed on the other side of the plants. Each row is transversely displaceable by a double acting hydraulic ram relative to the frame. The rams are controlled by an operator supported by the frame in a position to have a direct view of the weeding implements. Each implement is free to move up and down independently of the remaining implements in order to follow the ground contour. The implements of any one row can be raised together out of working position. These weeding implements can be earth working discs and/or thermal weeders.

  • Patent number: 5393175
Abstract: A diamond core drill using a sealed core bit is fastened centrally by means of a hollow shaft with a slanted cut at one end, that is used in a wedging manner to secure the tool against the work surface. This eliminates the need for an exterior frame and thus permits the use of large hole saws up to 48", held by a simple and economical tool. The tool feed towards the surface is controled via an advance control nut that screws on the filleted part of the shaft. The tool has a water feed system that entraps the water in a chamber formed by the barrel of the saw and the surface to be cut, that forces the water to seep along the sawing gap thus facilitating lubrification of the core bit. The resulting configuration is such as to allow for a single tool operator.

  • Patent number: 5380250
Abstract: The fastener strips are made from a band of wires which consists of a series of parallel spot-weldable metallic wires disposed side by side, contiguously and spot-welded to each other at longitudinally spaced points of the wires and arranged along lines transverse to the bands. The spot welds are produced by a laser beam swept across the band as the same is continuously moving. The band is thereafter cut and stamped to form fastener strips. The spot welds constitute frangible joints holding the fasteners together for manual handling of the strip but breaking when the fasteners are subjected to a separating force such as when used in a pneumatic nailer.

  • Patent number: 5372517
Abstract: An adaptor for a bayonet type, multi-pin cable connector including male and female terminal parts, the male part having radial bayonet pins engageable with bayonet slots of a coupling collar rotatably mounted on the female part. The adaptor includes a ring surrounding and secured to the coupling collar and provided with a radially protruding finger piece to facilitate collar rotation from unlocking to locking position. The finger piece extends through a slot made in a body which surrounds and is fixed to the female part. This slot provides abutments at its ends to prevent rotation of the finger piece, ring and coupling collar past the unlocking and locking positions of the coupling collar. The body has a flat guiding surface engageable with a flat guiding surface associated with the male part to facilitate bringing the two parts in coupling position.

  • Patent number: 5370211
Abstract: A coin whirling device for use in a coin-operated arcade game machine, the arcade game machine being of the type having a housing provided with a coin intake slit, for feeding discoid money coins into the enclosure defined within the housing and about a first plane, and a coin processor, located within the housing enclosure and operatively connected to the coin intake slit. The coin whirling device consists of a vertical cylinder, for capturing a coin fed into the housing. An axial slit in the cylinder opens into an upper end recess, being made up of two downwardly inclined oblique surfaces orthogonal to one another on opposite sides of the slit. These top leading surfaces will bias an incoming coin, oriented transversely thereof, to spin upon strike from the first plane to a second plane at right angle to the above-noted first plane. The coin whirling device provides compactness to the arcade game machine housing with respect to its dimensions along the first-mentioned plane, namely, its width.

  • Patent number: 5368125
Abstract: The scaffolding includes a tower provided with equally spaced rungs and adapted to be secured to an adjacent building structure, an outer sleeve surrounding the tower and guided therealong and a work platform supported by the outer sleeve. The raising system includes an inner sleeve surrounding and guided on the tower inwardly of the outer sleeve, a pair of latching levers pivoted to the outer sleeve and latching onto the tower, a pair of hydraulic rams pivoted to the outer sleeve and to the inner sleeve and reciprocating the latter for up and down movement relative to the outer sleeve, and a pair of hooks pivoted on the inner sleeve to engage and disengage opposite rungs of the tower. To raise the outer sleeve and work platform, the rams are retracted while the inner sleeve is hooked to the tower. When the ram retracting stroke is completed, the latching levers latch the outer sleeve to the tower and the rams extend to raise the inner sleeve which is then hooked to a higher pair of opposite tower rungs.

  • Patent number: 5365825
Abstract: A sheet turning device for printed sheets supported on a stand which includes a transparent jacket for each sheet, a sheet turning rod secured to each jacket of the stack, the several rods extending side by side, a lever arm fixed to each rod, whereby pulling on a selected lever arm causes rotation of the associated rod and turning of the sheet to the jacket of which the rod is fixed. A set of selector members are disposed side by side and are longitudinally movable in a guide, each selector member is attached to one lever arm. A common pulling member is movable back and forth in a predetermined path under the action of an electromagnet controlled by a foot-actuated switch. The first pulling action causes the first sheet to be turned since only the selector member associated with the first sheet is pulled.

  • Patent number: 5363891
Abstract: In one embodiment of saw tooth assembly, the tubular saw tooth is releasably inserted with friction fit inside the hollow of a tubular mount. In an alternate embodiment, it is the tubular mount which is releasably inserted with friction fit inside the hollow of the tubular tooth. In both cases, the hollows of the mount and tooth are coextensive, whereby a common axial through-channel is defined. The tubular mount is to be anchored to the peripheral edge of a circular saw discoid plate. The wood chip generated during circular saw operation can therefore freely engage through the common through-channel, i.e. through the whole saw tooth assembly, and escape therefrom. Wood chip clogging of the saw tooth during sawing operations is therefore substantially prevented, and the aerodynamic features of the circular are accordingly enhanced.

  • Patent number: 5351342
Abstract: A safety helmet comprises hard internal and external shells and a shock-absorbent insert. The internal shell forms at its lower edge and on the outside thereof an upwardly-opening trough in which the insert is inserted. The free edge of the trough joins with the lower edge of the external shell above the bottom of the trough. The two shells, together with the insert, form ventilation openings which are lined by portions of the two shells. The main portion of the internal shell is embedded into the soft-bodied insert, so that it is mainly the insert that contacts the wearer's head, but for the rim portion thereof where the internal shell still surrounds the bottom edge of the insert.
