  • Patent number: 6028979
Abstract: A reproduction apparatus is designed to select and decode speech and subtitles (characters) in a given language from a disk on which various types of information are recorded in different languages. This system arrangement makes it possible to standardize the manufacture of disks and reproduction apparatuses world-wide, resulting in a reduction in production cost. In a disk 100, various types of information are recorded in different languages along with video information. A reproduction apparatus selects information in a given language from the reproduced information using a data string processing section 203, a system control section 204, and an operator section 205, and supplies the selected pieces of information to each of a video processing section 206, a subtitle decoder 211, and an audio processing section 213.

  • Patent number: 6025506
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for preparing an optically active trans-compound having formula (1), in which R represents a phenyl group, whether or not substituted, preferably p-methoxyphenyl, and A is derived from an optically active compound, in which an aldehyde having formula (2), in which R is as defined above, is, in the presence of a base, brought into contact with an optically active acetyl compound having formula (3), in which X represents a leaving group and in which A is derived from an amino alcohol, preferably a .beta.-amino alcohol having a rigid structure.Particularly good results were obtained when use was made of a compound having formula (3), in which A is derived from an amino indanol compound having formula (4), in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 represent a (hetero)alkyl or (hetero)aryl group, whether or not substituted, having 1-10 C atoms, or R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 constitute an aromatic or aliphatic ring together with the N atom to which they are bound, in particular in which R.sub.

  • Patent number: 5989088
Abstract: The present invention provides a manufacturing method of a flat-panel display unit and a carrier therefor which make it unnecessary to implement alignment in each step, except for alignment which require higher precision, by performing the alignment in advance in the pre-stage of a series of steps. The present invention also provides a manufacturing method of a flat-panel display unit which allows alignment with accuracy of about 50 to 100 .mu.m to be performed simply, reliably and quickly. According to the inventive manufacturing method, a display panel is mounted non-shiftably on the carrier and while being mounted thereon, is then carried between processing machines and is processed by the processing machines. In mounting the display panel on the carrier, it is aligned with the carrier in advance by visually aligning alignment marks thereof.
