  • Patent number: 6181252
Abstract: In a remote control system having a transmitter and a receiver, a rolling code is ciphered to generate a ciphered rolling code by repeating, n times, an exclusive-OR operation on a constant code in a rolling code table and the rolling code as well as an-maximum shift keying. A key code specific to each control system is used as a constant code at the k-th exclusive-OR logic operation so that the k-th exclusive-OR logic operation becomes different from system to system resulting in different ciphering method for each system. The key code is set in an EEPROM in the process of control system production so that the rolling code may not be deciphered even by a design engineer as long as the key code is kept undisclosed.

  • Patent number: 6181047
Abstract: A permanent magnet motor includes a rotor having a permanent magnet and a stator core having circumferential teeth the number of which is 2n where n is an integer equal to or larger than 2, the teeth including first teeth the number of which is n and second teeth the number of which is n, the first and second teeth being circumferentially regularly disposed alternately. Each first tooth has a head with an end face opposed to the rotor and formed generally into the shape of an arc about a center of rotation of the rotor so that an air gap defined between said end face and a surface of the rotor opposed to said end face is circumferentially uniform. Each second tooth has a head with an end face opposed to the rotor and shaped so as to be gradually departed farther away from an opposite surface of the rotor as the head extends from its circumferentially central portion toward both circumferential ends.

  • Patent number: 6178780
Abstract: A porous body 4 and a first immersing solution 6 are put in a vessel 5 in proportions such that the whole of the porous body 4 is immersed in the immersing solution, and the immersing is conducted for an arbitrary period of time. The vessel 5 is formed so as to have a depth greater than the height of the porous body 4. A vessel-capacity changing device 7 is inserted in the vessel 5. The first immersing solution 6 overflows from the interstice between the vessel-capacity changing device 7 and the vessel 5. A second immersing solution 8 is poured through a charging port, and simultaneously the vessel-capacity changing device 7 is lifted to thereby remove the same from the immersing solution. Thus, the porous body 4 is immersed in the second immersing solution 8 without being exposed to the outside air to thereby complete solution replacement. The immersing of the porous body can be effected safely, securely and at a lowered cost without damaging the porous body.

  • Patent number: 6181045
Abstract: It is an object of this invention to provide an alternator for a vehicle in which all electric conductors forming bridge portions are sufficiently exposed to cooling winds so that the cooling performance is remarkably improved. It is another object of this invention to provide an alternator for a vehicle which is excellent in cooling performance, insulating characteristic, and heat resisting property. An alternator for a vehicle includes a stator. The stator includes an iron core 22, an electric conductor 21, and an insulator 23. The electric conductor 21 forms a winding on the iron core 22. The insulator 23 provides electric insulation between the electric conductor 21 and the iron core 22. The stator is supported by a housing. The dimension of openings of slots in the iron core 22 is smaller than the distance between inner side surfaces of the slots. The electric conductor 21 has accommodated portions accommodated in the slots, and bridge portions connecting the accommodated portions.

  • Patent number: 6181301
Abstract: A transparent electroluminescent display panel overlaps at least a part of a conventional instrument panel, and forms a combined display panel assembly. Overlapping front and back panel displays are selectively displayed. The front electroluminescent panel displays additional information such as navigation maps, and is turned off when such additional information is not required while the back panel is turned on. The present invention eliminates undesirable reflected images of the back panel vaguely shown on the front panel when the front panel is on and the back panel is off. A light attenuator, eliminates the reflected images. It decreases the intensity of light emitted from the front panel to the back panel, and is disposed between the back and the front panels or built into the electroluminescent panel, so that the reflected images are eliminated.

  • Patent number: 6181869
Abstract: Data on multiple stories or scenes are recorded on a recording medium so as to reduce the physical distance moved by a pickup at playback time and to suppress breaks or disturbances in reproduced video. A multi-scene program having a plurality of optionally selectable branch stories B0, B1, B2, B3, etc., is recorded between a branch point X and a connection point Y. The preceding main story of a video program, made up of video, sound, text and the like, branches off at branch point X to the branch stories, and at connection point Y connects to the succeeding main story in the video program. The recorded state between the branch point X and the connection point Y is such that the branch stories are each divided into multiple cells and the cells of the respective branch stories are recorded time-division multiplexed.
