  • Patent number: 6644461
Abstract: The device for individually transferring flat objects from an entry conveyor (2) on which the objects travel in series edge-on in a first direction (A), into buckets (6) of an exit conveyor (5), comprises an intermediate conveyor (7) arranged in the continuation of the entry conveyor above the exit conveyor and equipped with receptacles (9) which, over at least part of their path, can move in a second direction (B) perpendicular to said first direction, each flat object leaving the entry conveyor being injected edge-on into a receptacle of the intermediate conveyor which comes up to face the exit of the entry conveyor so as to be transferred edge-on into a bucket of the exit conveyor. It further comprises an injection system (14) comprising elastically deformable wheels (15) at the exit end of the entry conveyor and designed to accelerate and then retard the movement of each flat object in said first direction before injecting it into a receptacle of the intermediate conveyor.

  • Patent number: 6631640
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for accurately measuring an initial imbalance deviating from a predetermined imbalance, when the predetermined imbalance is to be left in a body of rotation. In the method and apparatus, data relating to the predetermined imbalance is stored in a memory 27 as dummy value information. The vibration of a crank shaft 1 during rotation is detected by vibration sensors 6L, 6R to obtain analogue vibration signals WDL, WDR. The rotational angle position of the crank shaft 1 is detected by a photo sensor 8 and, in response, the above described dummy value information is converted to analogue dummy signals DLX, DLY, DRX and DRY by multi D/A converters 12L, 12R, 13L and 13R. These analogue dummy signals are removed from the analogue vibration signals to obtain analogue initial imbalance signals WL, WR, which are converted by D/A converter to obtain the digital initial imbalance value.

  • Patent number: 6628457
Abstract: Angular speed sensors and acceleration sensors are built into the casing of a video-type stereoscopic microscope. The angle of rotation of the stereoscopic microscope detected by the angular speed sensors and the amount of shift of the stereoscopic microscope detected by the acceleration sensors are input to a microscope control unit. This microscope control unit controls a vibration compensator based on the result of the detection. The vibration compensator shifts a lens within a plane orthogonal to its the optical axis so that object light from a field is deflected to a direction parallel to the optical axes of individual zoom optical systems. The vertical width AV of the field and the working distance L of this video microscope satisfy the following inequality: 1/AV>1/(11.46+0.011×L).

  • Patent number: 6625214
Abstract: An fade detection device detects fade transitions in a image data signal used for image data compression provided with: an inter-frame difference calculation device calculates the absolute value of the difference at each pixel between two frames, and the sum of the absolute values at all pixels of one frame; a pixel block detection device calculates the absolute value of the difference at each pixel between two pixel blocks, each of which is subdivided from one frame, and detecting a pair of blocks to obtain the minimum value for the sum total of the absolute values at all pixels of one block; an predictive difference calculation device calculates the one frame total of said sum total of the absolute values at all pixels of one block in each pair of blocks detected by said pixel block detection device; a judging device judges whether said fade transitions is generated or not, using said sum total of the absolute values at all pixels of one frame and the one frame total.

  • Patent number: 6623871
Abstract: An image is reproduced on a transparent carrier and a film incorporating a photoluminescent product is applied to the carrier, either on the same side as the printed image or on the other. A filter in the form of a film allowing the effects of the color of the photoluminescent material to be moderated is inserted between the carrier and the film. The filter is a translucent material that desaturates the color of the luminescent layer by way of its light scattering capability. Light which passes through the filter is scattered uniformly thereby giving rise to a white haze, is then reflected off of the luminescent layer and then passes through filter again on its way to the eye of the viewer. Different sequences and combinations of the various layers are possible.

  • Patent number: 6621197
Abstract: The spark plug body includes radially extending stops which limit the movement of the spark plug body in one direction with respect to an aperture through a around plane surface. The spark plug body further includes bosses radially extending from a section of reduced diameter wherein slots are formed between the radially extending bosses and a ring-shaped transverses floor which is positioned to be coplanar with the ground plane surface. The prongs of a ground fastener extend though the slots thereby securing the spark plug body with respect to the ground plane surface. Additionally, the ground fastener includes a spark gap portion which is positioned with respect to the tip of the spark plug thereby precisely forming a gap and forming the electrical connection between the spark gap and the ground plane surface.

  • Patent number: 6620087
Abstract: A zipper segment for transverse direction application to a bag film web in which the profiles are of unequal lengths and joined together at their ends. As a result, the shorter profile is placed in tension. During bag formation the longer profile is initially attached to the bag film web and the shorter side is attached only by the engagement of the profile interlocking members and end seals. The shorter side, which is not directly attached to the web, nonetheless remains close to the web as a result of the tension imparted on the short side by the longer side.

  • Patent number: 6616881
Abstract: A method and apparatus for removing camber from zipper with profiles having interlocking elements and or webs. The zipper is stretched longitudinally in a manner so that the interlocking elements stretch relative to each other. To this end, the zipper is fed to an idler wheel that may be spring loaded. From a set of first drive wheels and fed from the idler wheel by a set of second drive wheels. The second drive wheels are driven faster than the first drive wheels to effect the stretching. Alternately only the second set of drive wheels are driven and the stretch is provided by the spring loaded idler wheel or the zipper is driven around a static curved surface.

  • Patent number: 6612795
Abstract: The fastener includes a head with an oval-shaped base. The head is supported by a cylindrical post and includes overhanging or cantilevered portions along the major axis of the oval-shaped base. These overhanging portions are ramped and face a first seal. The head engages a slot in a panel by first being inserted therethrough and then being twisted by one quarter turn so that the edges of the slot are engaged between the first seal and the cantilevered portions. Flex tabs lock the head in place. The fastener further includes a cylindrical retainer with flexible retaining fingers which is inserted by a linear motion into an aperture in another panel, thereby engaging the panel between the retaining fingers and the second seal.
