  • Patent number: 8052707
Abstract: A patient's skin puncturing device, particularly for collecting a blood sample for diagnostic purposes, including a housing, a lancet slidably positioned inside the housing and having a body with a sheathed puncturing needle seated therein, and a push button positioned at the one end of the housing. Between a face end of the push button and the lancet body a drive spring is placed, and between the other end of the housing, which is provided with an opening for the puncturing needle, and the lancet body a return spring is placed. Between the housing and the lancet body is placed a lancet actuation lock, preferably in the form of interlocks of a washer. The device has a drive spring catch, preferably in the form of grabs of the washer, to preclude the drive spring from following the lancet in the puncture phase and in the retraction phase of the lancet.

  • Patent number: 8055443
Abstract: Traffic information, including flow information and incident information, obtained through a traffic management system for providing and facilitating the exchange of traffic information between a remote location and a vehicle may be used in route calculation by a navigation device. The navigation device may recalculate a route based on anticipated user error. Alternatively, the navigation device may recalculate a route using received traffic information triggered by the receipt of a traffic information update, or triggered by the passage of an amount of time. The broadcast rate of traffic information updates may vary temporally (providing more frequent updates during peak commute times) or geographically (providing more frequent updates to metropolitan areas with increased traffic information needs). If route calculation is triggered by an elapsed amount of time, the amount of time may vary to be shorter during peak commute times.

  • Patent number: 8046166
Abstract: Traffic information, including traffic flow information and traffic incident information, obtained through a traffic management system for providing and facilitating the exchange of traffic information between a remote location and a vehicle may be presented to a user on a user display in the vehicle. The traffic information may be presented to the user in several circumstances, either as cued by the user, or automatically presented by the traffic management system. The user display may also automatically display traffic flow and traffic incident information for the direction that the user is traveling or along a route calculated by the navigation device. Further, a window displaying information about an upcoming traffic incident such as distance to the incident and incident details may automatically appear in the user display. Alternately, the user may select a roadway, freeway, or area for which traffic information is desired.

  • Patent number: 8042793
Abstract: A mounting scheme for attaching a power train to a motor vehicle frame includes a plurality of mounts. At least one of the mounts is a solid engine mount having a metal housing and an elastomeric bushing. The elastomeric bushing contains no voids other than a central bore used to attach the mount to a bracket. The elastomeric bushing includes frustoconical portions, where one end of each of the frustoconical portions is unconstrained by the metal housing. The stiffness of the mount may be tuned to reduce noise and improve handling. The stiffnesses of any of the axes may be adjusted so that the power train roll center aligns with the power train center of gravity.

  • Patent number: 8038100
Abstract: A paneled partition assembly is designed to close an opening and collapses to uncover the opening by a movement of at least one panel that initiates the rotation and translation of at least one other panel. When the paneled partition assembly is in a closed or extended position, the plurality of panels covers the opening regardless of the opening's shape, size, or irregularity. When the paneled partition assembly is in an open or retracted position, the plurality of panels collapse to a smaller configuration. In moving between the extended and retracted positions, the panels rotate and translate fluidly with minimum user interaction.

  • Patent number: 8041779
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method that includes a vehicle that exchanges information with the remote location by way of a communication network. A remote server transmits vehicle-related information to the vehicle by way of a communication system. Information may also be broadcast to and received by the vehicle by way of a broadcast communication system. A receiver of the vehicle provides user access to only a subset of the broadcast information based on user preferences of a user profile. The user may update the user profile by accessing and updating it at either the vehicle or by accessing a database. The user may access the database through a network, such as the Internet. The vehicle also selectively transmits vehicle-related information to the remote location when a predetermined event occurs. The vehicle-related information is compiled and analyzed at the remote location, and the analyzed information is transmitted back to the vehicle.
