Abstract: A safety liner and cover assembly for a water mattress disposed inside an external frame. The assembly includes a base composed of a sheet of flat vinyl material and a side wall extending circumferentially around the base to define a recess for receiving a water mattress. The side wall includes a layer of vinyl material sealed to the base such that the base and side wall form a watertight safety liner. The side wall also includes either a plurality of semi-rigid panels or a layer of fabric secured to the vinyl layer. The fabric layer is disposed exteriorly of the vinyl layer such that the fabric layer forms the external layer of the side wall. A top fabric panel is disposed above the recess and has a length and width comparable to the length and width of the base. A slide fastener is provided for removably securing the top fabric panel to the side wall around the perimeter of the side wall to enclose the recess defined by the side wall and the base.
Abstract: A beverage mug includes a vessel having an enlarged base and a neck which rises to a mouth surrounded by a rim. The mouth is normally covered by a closure that includes a lid and a sipping liner. The lid fits over and engages a sipping liner, but the liner may be detached from the lid and installed separately in the mouth of the vessel. The sipping liner has a cross wall that lies within the mouth of the vessel below the rim and thereby prevents the beverage from splashing out of the mouth, but the cross wall contains an aperture to enable one to take a beverage from the vessel in sips. The lid is fitted to the liner while the liner is on the mouth of the vessel simply by placing the lid over the liner and pressing downwardly.
Abstract: A locking assembly (10) is for use in a ringbinder (12) used to hold and store sheets (S) of paper or other material in which at least one hole (H) is punched for capturing the sheet of paper and holding it in place. The assembly includes at least one binder ring (14). Each binder ring has first and second mating segments (14a, 14b). These are movable into and out of contact with each other. A sheet of paper is inserted onto one of the ting segments, when the segments are out of contact with each other, by inserting the hole in the sheet of paper over the ting segment. One end of one of the ring segments is attached to a first elongated plate (48), and a corresponding end of the other ring segment is attached to a second elongated plate (50). The plates are positioned side-by-side and extend generally parallel to each other.
Abstract: Material shredding apparatus for reducing scrap vehicle tires to produce two sub-products of rubber and of rubber free steel wire in which the apparatus has a shaft driven set of blocks in which each block has cutting teeth in circumferentially spaced relation, the respective blocks are keyed to the shaft so the cutting teeth on the blocks are circumferentially distributed along the shaft at 15.degree. spacing to assure that the cutting teeth perform a cutting function one at a time to avoid excessive power consumption and the material being shredded is distributed along the set of blocks on the shaft to reduce local areas of wear.

Abstract: A caliper is provided to be used with an electronic wheel balancer to measure both the diameter and width of a wheel assembly. The caliper includes a pair of pivotally connected arms which are movable between a spread apart position in which the caliper can measure wheel assembly diameter and a crossed position in which the caliper can be used to measure wheel assembly width. Each arm includes a base portion and a measuring arm extending from the base portion. A measuring arm base is defined between the measuring arm and the caliper arm base. A first set of measuring marks are formed in the caliper arm base for use in measuring the wheel diameter. A second set of measuring marks are formed in the measuring arm base for use in determining wheel width. The second marks are calibrated to account for the width of the metal forming the wheel rim. The caliper arm base includes a pointer, positioned opposite the measuring arm. The pointer points to the second set of marks to indicate the measured wheel width.
Abstract: A feed intake cup (14) is for use in a poultry feeding system (10) for transferring feed from a feed intake hopper (12) to a conveyor by which the feed is delivered to feed stations (22) spaced along the conveyor. A cup housing (24) has an inlet (I) and an outlet (O). The inlet is connected to the feed intake hopper for feed to flow from the hopper into the housing. A feed convey (16) is connected to the housing outlet. Feed flows through the housing and into the conveyor through the outlet. A feed transport auger (18) is positioned in the conveyor. The auger is movable through the conveyor to convey feed to the feeding stations. A ball (144) with extension (164), gear (58), or a multiple diameter tube (300), a combination of these elements, may be positioned in the housing and is cooperable with the auger moves to agitate or churn the feed as the auger moves feed through the conveyor.
Abstract: A motor assembly includes a stator assembly and a rotor assembly having an associated rotor shaft. The rotor shaft is mounted between and supported by endshields both are mounted to the stator assembly. At least the mounting one of the endshields includes a plurality of truss members so configured as to permit the endshield to be made of different materials while retaining substantially the same configuration. The truss members include rails oriented generally parallel to the axis of rotation of the rotor shaft. A web extends between the rails. Knee beam truss members are braced in various configurations. In some embodiments, a venturi cowling is provided to cause air to flow over end turns of the motor.

Abstract: A base support for a moveable antenna employing a stepping motor and stepping motor controller to move the antenna in fine increments. The base support is attached to an upstanding mounting member. An antenna is attached to a first support structure connected to a base member. The support structure is operatively connected to a worm gear assembly and motor driven worm gear disposed between the base member and the support structure to effect movement of the antenna about a predetermined axis. The worm gear is driven by a stepping motor. The stepping motor is controlled by a stepping motor controller to control incremental movement of the antenna. A second worm gear assembly can be interposed transversly between the first support structure and a second support structure to effect movements of the antenna about a horizontal axis. A second stepping motor and second stepping motor controller are used to drive the second worm gear and effect incremental movement of the antenna about the horizontal axis.
Abstract: A seal for an antifriction bearing having a fixed inner race and a rotating outer race includes inner and outer seal cases which are pressed over cylindrical mounting surfaces on the inner and outer races, respectively. To this end, the seal cases have extended axial walls which actually fit over the mounting surfaces in the bearing races and radial walls, connected to the extended axial walls. The radial walls of the two cases are spaced apart so that an annular chamber exists between the two radial walls. Each seal case has an elastomeric seal element supported by its radial wall remote from its extended axial wall and that seal element establishes a fluid barrier along the other seal case, so that the two seal elements isolate the chamber from the interior of the bearing and from the environment at the exterior of the bearing. The inner case carries a sensor having a head that is located in the annular chamber between the two axial walls.

Abstract: Carpeted panels comprising a thermoplastic substrate and a synthetic fiber carpet are produced by bonding the respective pads to one another using a vibration welding apparatus for causing the generation of frictional heat at the interface between the substrate and the carpet. One of the platen of the welding apparatus confronting the carpet is provided with a pattern of closely spaced pins engaging the carpet and urging the carpet into forced engagement with the substrate. On account of the closely spaced pins and the relatively low amplitude of the reciprocating motion, a bond is achieved substantially over the entire interface between the carpet and the substrate.
