  • Patent number: 4426966
Abstract: Precombustion chamber construction in a cylinder head of a diesel engine utilizing ceramic material to increase resistance to thermal stresses. A space is provided between the precombustion chamber construction and the cylinder head at least at the main combustion chamber of the diesel engine, and one or more ceramic bodies are shielded from the metal cylinder head and any other metal by thermal insulation to minimize thermal stresses and enable combustion in the precombustion chamber to take place at a higher temperature whereby the power/weight ratio and the efficiency of the engine are improved. The precombustion chamber construction in one embodiment is composed of axially successive parts, and at least the part nearest the main combustion chamber is made of the ceramic material and shielded as indicated.

  • Patent number: 4419628
Abstract: A noise simulator including a reflection absorbing circuit connected between a high-frequency noise pulse generator based on the principle of a charged delay line and a DC capacitor connected to the power line of the equipment under test. The reflection absorbing circuit is composed of a parallel resistor and a series resistor. The resistances of these resistors are determined so that the impedance at the input side of the reflection absorbing circuit in a condition that a predetermined standard impedance connected thereto is equal to the output impedance of the generator and that the impedance at the output side of the reflection absorbing circuit in the condition that the generator is connected thereto is equal to the predetermined standard impedance. A grounded electric conductor plate is movably disposed commonly adjacent to the series resistor and the DC-cut capacitor to adjust the stray capacitance prior to use for noise simulation.

  • Patent number: 4417768
Abstract: A braking oil pressure control device for a hydraulically operated anti-skid brake system comprising a pair of serially aligned first and second cylinder chambers defined in a cylinder body on the opposite sides of a partition wall. The first cylinder chamber is divided by a brake piston on the opposite sides thereof into a first brake chamber communicating with a brake master cylinder and a second brake chamber communicating with a wheel brake such that when the pressure in the first brake chamber is pressurized under the action of the master cylinder, the brake piston is moved to pressurize the second brake chamber for actuation of the wheel brake. • Patent number: 4417207
Abstract: A simulated-noise signal is injected in the power line of equipment under test without loss of AC power by the use of a series resonance circuit having a resonance frequency equal to the frequency of the AC power supply. The series resonance circuit is connected in the power line in parallel with the equipment, and a capacitor is connected to the power line in parallel with the series resonance circuit and the equipment. A switching element is used to short-circuit the resonance circuit when noise simulation is not carried out. For the simulation of lightening strikes the circuit further comprises a simulated-noise signal generator including a capacitor charged by a DC power supply, a first switching element to discharge the charge of the capacitor to the equipment, and a second switching element for establishing a by-pass of the discharging current. By closing the second switching element after the first switching element is closed, a square-wave signal is fed to the equipment.

  • Patent number: 4415613
Abstract: For forming a perforated pipe a method is employed which includes winding on a mandrel having multiple spaced protrusions thereon angularly related strips arranged between the protrusions. These strips cooperatively define openings through which the protrusions extend. The strips are formed of fibres which are impregnated with a settable resin or plastic which combine with the fibres to form a tube adequate to resist a pressure of about 600 p.s.i. Because the protrusions are employed the fibres can be so impregnated as to be resin-rich. The openings may be screened with resin-poor granules arranged in vaulted configuration. A further strip may be wound around the foregoing arrangement to hold the granules against the resulting pipe.

  • Patent number: 4410266
Abstract: A combustion technique and control is provided by the use of an optical pyrometer by means of which combustion control is afforded in accordance with the inspection of the combustion flame. The preferred optical pyrometer takes the form of an optical pyrometer having a single measurement cell which is alternately exposed to the flame through different filters arranged on a rotating disc driven by a motor. The circuit associated with the optical pyrometer, for purposes of generating control signals, features the use of a synchronous D. C. restorer which establishes a reference level for minimum signal distortion. Also employed is an AGC circuit by means of which one of the signals derived from one of the aforementioned filters is utilized to minimize undesired variations in the results. Gating logic is used to separate the two channels derived from the different filters and actually demultiplexes the two separate channels.
