  • Patent number: 8321528
Abstract: A method of processing event notifications and event subscriptions in a telecommunications or data network comprising a plurality of nodes, wherein an individual node performs the steps of maintaining a first repository for storing a set of event subscriptions encoded in a first summary and maintaining a second repository for storing the set of event subscriptions. The node encodes a received event notification into a second summary and then checks if the received event notification is a member of the set by comparing the first summary and the second summary. If the event notification is not a member of the set said notification is discarded.

  • Patent number: 8315629
Abstract: A base station reduces interference from user equipment operating in a neighboring cell by monitoring one or more channels of neighboring base stations to receive a signal transmitted by a user equipment that is being served by one of the neighboring base stations, and detecting when a power level of the signal transmitted by the user equipment exceeds a threshold power level. The base station then uses the received signal transmitted by the user equipment to acquire an identifier of the user equipment. The base station then communicates with a network node of the mobile communication system to arrange for it to serve the user equipment itself but in only the uplink direction. The neighboring base station continues to serve the user equipment in the downlink direction in what is now an asymmetrical uplink/downlink connection.

  • Patent number: 8315262
Abstract: A method of clock recovery of Time Division Multiplex signal in a packet network, wherein a first Provider Edge receives a timing message from a second Provider Edge and upon reception of said timing message a counter of said first Provider Edge is increased. The first Provider Edge sends to the second Provider Edge encapsulated Time Division Multiplex packet traffic and each packet sent to the second Provider Edge causes the counter to decrease. The first Provider Edge compares value of the counter with an Upper Threshold value and with a Low Threshold value and increases a rate of generation of the encapsulation packets if the counter is above said Upper Threshold or reduces the rate of generation of the encapsulation packets if the counter is below said Low Threshold.

  • Patent number: 8315571
Abstract: Wireless transmissions from a user of a spectral resource are sensed by operating receiver equipment within a user equipment to receive signals within a given bandwidth around a given carrier frequency. If the user equipment is not readily capable of analyzing the received signals to ascertain whether the signature pattern of the user is present in the received signals, then it works cooperatively with a remote unit to analyze the received signals to ascertain whether a signature pattern of the user is present in the received signals. Results of the analysis are reported to a main node. The remote unit can provide software to the user equipment and/or perform at least part of the analysis for the user equipment.

  • Patent number: 8311483
Abstract: User equipment comprising a receiver obtains information about a set of channels to be sensed in a sensing process, wherein each channel is associated with a respective one of a number of radio frequencies. The receiver obtains a radio frequency signal by simultaneously sensing two or more of the channels included in the set of channels. A total power level of the sensed two or more channels is measured, and a comparison result is generated by comparing the total power level of the sensed two or more channels with a predetermined power level. The user equipment is controlled based on the comparison result. For example, if the total power level is below a threshold, then the sensed channels can be considered to not be in use by external transmission equipment.

  • Patent number: 8306012
Abstract: Channel estimation is performed by user equipment operating in a mobile communications system. Estimation involves receiving a signal and analyzing it to detect a signal component from a neighboring cell. Depending on outcome, one or both of the following are determined: whether a power level of the signal component from the neighboring cell exceeds a power threshold level; and whether a difference between timing parameters of the neighboring cell's signal component and that from a serving cell is less than a timing threshold level. If the power level of the neighboring cell's signal component exceeds the power threshold level and the difference between the timing parameters of the signal components from the neighboring cell and that of the serving cell is less than the timing threshold level, then a joint channel estimation process is performed. Otherwise, a single channel estimation process is performed.

  • Patent number: 8300309
Abstract: A microscopy system and method allow observing a fluorescent substance accumulated in a tissue. The tissue can be observed at a same time both with visible light and with fluorescent light. It is possible to observe a series of previously recorded fluorescent light images in superposition with the visible light images. An end of the series of images may be automatically determined. A thermal protective filter may be inserted into a beam path of an illuminating system at such automatically determined end of the series. Further, the fluorescent light image may be analyzed for identifying a coherent fluorescent portion thereof. A representation of a periphery line of the coherent portion may be generated, and depths profile data may be obtained only from the coherent portion. An illuminating light beam for exciting the fluorescence may be modulated for improving a contrast of fluorescent images.
