  • Patent number: 7277714
Abstract: A system for locating a device in a wireless network that caches a known location and estimates a location at a given time based on a speed at which the device is moving. The system initially determines plural locations and determines the speed from location. The speed and location information is stored in a cache. The system also includes a mechanism to query the cached. The system extrapolates an estimated location of the device based on the time of the query and speed of the device. Route information may be factored into the determination to account for traffic, transit or travel itinerary.

  • Patent number: 7274752
Abstract: An arrangement where a transmitter has a plurality of transmitting antennas that concurrently transmit the same symbol, and where the signal delivered to each transmitting antenna is weighted by a factor that is related to the channel transmission coefficients found between the transmitting antenna and receiving antennas. In the case of a plurality of transmit antennas and one receive antenna, where the channel coefficient between the receive antenna and a transmit antenna i is hi, the weighting factor is hi* divided by a normalizing factor, ?, which is ( ? k = 1 K ? ? h k ? 2 ) 1 / 2 , where K is the number of transmitting antennas. When more than one receiving antenna is employed, the weighting factor is 1 a ? ( gH ) H , where g=[g1 . . . gL], H is a matrix of channel coefficients, and ? is a normalizing factor ( ? p = 1 L ? ? q = 1 L ? ? ? k = 1 K ? h pk ? h qk * ? ) 1 / 2 .

  • Patent number: 7272612
Abstract: A tree-structured index to multidimensional data is created using occurring patterns and clusters within the data which permit efficient search and retrieval strategies in a database of DNA profiles. A search engine utilizes hierarchical decomposition of the database by identifying clusters of similar DNA profiles and maps to parallel computer architecture, allowing scale up past previously feasible limits. Key benefits of the new method are logarithmic scale up and parallelization. These benefits are achieved by identification and utilization of occurring patterns and clusters within stored data. The patterns and clusters enable the stored data to be partitioned into subsets of roughly equal size. The method can be applied recursively, resulting in a database tree that is balanced, meaning that all paths or branches through the tree have roughly the same length. The method achieves high performance by exploiting the natural structure of the data in a manner that maintains balanced trees.

  • Patent number: 7264864
Abstract: A tile, made for example of leather, having a first face, a second face, side edges and a plurality of holes that bring into communication first face with second face. In a lining made with such tiles like this, the holes lead the air from below to above the tiles. To improve further the air flow through the tile, on the second face a plurality of grooves are made that extend from a central zone up to the side edges of the tile. This way, an air path is formed between the lining and the floor leading the air to holes and then into the room at the side of first face. A favorable exchange rate through a floor lining made with them is obtained, combined with a heat exchanger embedded in the floor.

  • Patent number: 7257913
Abstract: A signage system comprising a prism-shaped tri-panel louver having a slot at each corner into which can be slid a clip. The clip is generally V-shaped with a pair of opposing sides joined at one end to form an apex. At the apex end is a pair of opposing fingers which are generally parallel to the clip sides. The fingers form a slot on each side. The clip is slid and retained by a friction fit within the slot such that when three clips are installed the fingers and slots formed therein can hold the sign graphics strip. The clip can flex somewhat to allow for insertion in a slot in the louver.

  • Patent number: 7226373
Abstract: A batting practice apparatus comprising an upright support mast associated with a base having a plurality of legs which are able to be mounted to a surface. A rotatable sleeve slides over the mast. The sleeve can rotate about the mast and a pin slides within the slots. An arm with a ball-shaped object at the distal end extends from the sleeve. An elastic member is associated at one end with the sleeve by means of a tab extending from the sleeve; and, at the other end is associated with a base leg. When the batter strikes the ball-shaped object, the sleeve rotates upward about the mast and returns as urged by the elastic member.
