Abstract: A retaining device comprising, a reservoir for retaining a liquid, a first elongated conduit, and a second elongated conduit. An upper end of the first and second conduits is connected in fluid communication to the reservoir. Upper ends of the first and second conduits are retained to the reservoir in order to prevent them from inadvertently pulling out from the reservoir.
Abstract: A sewing machine for the controlled sewing on of a tape from a tape supply onto a tubular edge region of an elastic workpiece thus forming a band, which is provided with an additional feed dog in front of the usual feed dog in the region of the needle plate. The additional feed dog is driven by a stepping motor transversely with respect to the workpiece feed direction and is used to guide and align the workpiece. Sensors control the alignment movement of the workpiece.

Abstract: A label tape having self-adhesive labels sticking on a carrier strip, with said labels being separated from each other by cuts running mainly transverse to the longitudinal axis of the label tape and being subdivided each into sections by at least two cutting lines in form of periodic curves running in longitudinal direction to the label tape. The height of the labels is greater than and aliquant to the periodic length of the cutting lines, the form of the cutting lines is chosen such that parts of the cutting lines confine an angle of not more than 90.degree. and the curves of the cutting lines of the label tape are staggered in a longitudinal direction. The height of the label measured in longitudinal direction of the label tape differs from the periodic length of the cutting lines and of a morefold thereof, and the periodic length of the cutting lines is lower than the height of a label. Thus, security against forgery by the invention is improved.
Abstract: A liquid drainage system comprising a receptacle having a front wall, a back wall, and a chamber for collection of liquid therein. The system has a housing secured to an upper portion of the receptacle, said housing having a drip chamber, an annular wall in a lower portion of the drip chamber defining a valve seat, with said seat being disposed at an acute angle relative to the horizontal when the receptacle is in an upright position. The system has an anti-reflux valve comprising a sheet of flexible material having an upper portion and a lower portion and extending across said drip chamber such that the sheet is sufficiently large to engage against said seat peripherally around the drip chamber.
Abstract: A sleeve for applying compressive pressures against a patient's limb from a source of pressurized fluid, wherein the sleeve comprises a multi-layered sheath, having a proximal and a distal end. Generally parallel side edges extend between the proximal and distal ends, which side edges, on the proximal half of the sheath, are adjustably wrappable about the patient's limb, once it is inserted in the sleeve.
Abstract: An absorbent dressing comprising, a transparent backing sheet having a relatively high water vapor permeability, a front sheet having a pressure sensitive adhesive on a front surface thereof for facing a wound with the front sheet and adhesive having a plurality of apertures extending therethrough, and an absorbent layer intermediate the front sheet and backing sheet having a plurality of openings in register with the apertures of the front sheet, with the openings of the layer being at least as large as the apertures of the front sheet.
Abstract: A device for performing a procedure comprising, a first tray, a second tray positioned adjacent a side the first tray, and a flexible splash shield extending from a location adjacent the juncture of the first and second trays and being movable between a first position substantially covering the first tray and a second position substantially covering the second tray.
Abstract: A feeding system for connecting a humidifier to a reservoir comprising, a first elongated conduit for feeding water from the reservoir to the humidifier, a second elongated conduit alongside the first conduit for passing air from the humidifier to the reservoir, with an upper end of the first and second conduits being connected in fluid communication to the reservoir. The conduits are connected to the humidifier with a lower end of the first and second conduits located inside the humidifier, and with the lower end of the first conduit being located adjacent the lower end of the second conduit.

Abstract: A resonator in the form of a cylindrical body is immersed in a fluid to be measured and excited by a piezoelectric transducer in the vicinity of its natural frequency. The vibration frequency is stabilized by a feedback loop. In that feedback loop a phase shift is introduced which can be switched between to discrete values. The resulting difference in frequency of oscillation of the resonator is proportional to the damping ratio of the resonator and is, therefore, a measure for the viscosity of the fluid. The natural frequency of the piezoelectric transducer is substantially higher than the natural frequency of the resonator, and the oscillation of the resonator is mechanically isolated from the housing by an inertial mass - spring arrangement with low natural frequency.
