Abstract: The fuel cleaning system of the present invention includes removal of water and sludge which is accomplished using a gravity separator with a mist extracting means utilizing a large commercial cartridge type filter. The filter removes particles larger than 20 microns plus any water that was not removed in the gravity separator. Clean fuel from the filter is discharged at the bottom of the fuel tank at high velocity through a small opening. This agitates the water and sludge. The suction side of the system is located approximately one inch above the high velocity discharge where it picks up the water and sludge for removal by the separator and filter sections. During the process, water and sludge are drained from the separator and filter as accumulated. The system is powered by an explosion-proof electric motor driving a pump which handles approximately 5 gallons per minute.
