  • Patent number: 5098165
Abstract: A roofing materials removal device provides a guide system which secures the device and the operator in position on an inclined roof so that the roof can be traversed at various positions along different travel paths while supported. The removal device comprises a light-weight, durable, wheel supported frame, dual handles for leverage, an electric motor positioned low on the frame to give the device balance and stability. An angled blade reciprocating and riding on linear bearings is connected to spring-mounted tension bars. As the springs force the rear end of the tension bar upward, the forward end of the tension bars pivot downward causing the serrated, leading edge of the blade to slide between the roof covering material and the roof deck. The blade follows the contour of the roof deck dislodging roofing material including nails, roofing felt and shingles. The guide system is positioned on the opposite side of the roof ridge from the removal device.

  • Patent number: 5095705
Abstract: A process for producing energy from introducing water down a borehole, which includes (a) providing a borehole having a depth of at least 20,000 feet; (b) providing a casing in the borehole of a certain diameter; (c) introducing an internal pipe within the casing of a diameter less than the casing to define an annulus therebetween; (d) providing a means to introduce quantities of water down the inner pipe at predetermined intervals; (e) providing an air turbine at the upper portion of the inner pipe so that when the water is introduced down the inner pipe, a vacuum is established above the water flowing down the pipe, and air is sucked into the inner pipe through the blades of the air turbine to run the turbine; (f) allowing the water, upon reaching a certain depth to turn to steam at the lower end of the inner pipe; and (g) returning the steam up the annulus between the inner pipe and the casing to the upper end of the casing and exiting the system.

  • Patent number: 5097532
Abstract: A circuit for generating a synchronized flush signal for use with a cache controller which samples the noncachable address input too late for that input to be used to disable the cache controller is described. The circuit synchronizes a memory-mapped register bit with the internal clock signal in the cache controller to insure setup and hold times and proper phasing. The use of the synchronized flush signal overcomes coherency problems with the noncachable input.

  • Patent number: 5097506
Abstract: A keyboard controller or interface with scans entered key sequences for a key sequence activating a keyboard lock feature. A password and particular hot key are loaded by the system microprocessor. The keyboard interface then scans untl the designated sequence is activated. All keyboard activity is blocked from the system microprocessor until a password sequence is entered. Codes releasing some of the key strokes in the activation sequence are transmitted and normal operation, including activation sequence scanning, resumes. The password mode may be directly activated on command from the system microprocessor.

  • Patent number: 5094651
Abstract: A universal joint (310) includes a substantially hemispherical cup-shaped yoke (311) in which is disposed a cross trunnion (312) and which is disposed in a ring (315). Pins (321, 322) connect the ring to the cross trunnion and to the yoke. Lubricant in an annular channel (319) in the ring provides lubrication for the pins (321, 322), whose ends disposed in the ring (315) are surrounded by needle bearings (31). A first shaft (340) is integrally connected to the cross trunnion (312), and a second shaft (513) is integrally connected to the yoke (311). By joining the yokes (311) of two such joints (310) which a common shaft (313), a composite joint (300) can be formed.

  • Patent number: 5091844
Abstract: A means of controlling a process with a multiplicity of measurements dependent on one process parameter, so that only the most constraining of the measurements manipulates the process in such a way that the performance of each individual controller selected is equivalent to the performance if there were a single controller controlling only one measurement, the most constraining variable. The means of controlling also manipulates the process to prevent a measurement, that is within a process constraint limit, from excessively exceeding that process constraint limit when it is projected that it would do so without the corrective manipulation.
