Abstract: This invention relates to a method for spreading mixtures of primary colors in fluid form by means of a spreading device, such as a drawing or painting device, having containers for colors and thinner connected to a spreading or painting element.
Abstract: A remotely operable safety valve mounted between the swivel and the kelly in drilling operation including a spherically-shaped valve element which is mounted in a generally tubular housing rotatable with the swivel sub, the kelly and the drill string. Hydraulic means move the valve element between open and closed positions in order to control flow through the drill-string and prevent in-line blow outs. As an additional safety feature, spring means move the valve element to a closed position in the event of a failure of the hydraulic means.
Abstract: A pressure operated safety valve adapted to be mounted in a well tubing, which may be moved to open or closed positions independently of pressure in the tubing and locked in and unlocked from the open position using control fluid pressure.
Abstract: A new and improved protective cover for the lower portion of an outboard motor including the skeg, rudder and propeller shaft housing to increase the strength of the motor parts covered and protect such parts against water damage and wear. A reinforcing rib may be added for additional strength and an insert plate may be inserted in the cover to replace a missing skeg.
Abstract: Safety apparatus for simultaneously placing in neutral the automatic transmission of a service vehicle subject to frequent starting and stopping without moving the gearshift lever and setting the vehicle brake from a second drive station removed from the first drive station such that the vehicle is safely but temporarily parked.
Abstract: A drilling tool connected in a drilling string includes a pressure responsive rotatable ball valve for enabling drilling fluid flow down the bore of a drill string which automatically rotates closed for blocking flow through the bore of the drill string when incipient pressure conditions indicate the direction of flow through the bore may be reversed. Means for releasably locking the ball in the open position in response to a preselected directional pressure to enable the running of other tools and the like through the bore of the drilling string are provided. The drilling tool may be employed for controlling an undesired flowing stream of fluid from the bore of the drilling string by stabbing the tool to connect with the drilling string utilizing a stabbing member which is removed after connecting to enable the ball valve to rotate closed to control the flowing stream.
Abstract: A tube cleaning device including a water lance and a movable carriage with a driving mechanism for extending and retracting the lance, lance guides and a device for supplying water under pressure to the lance; the driving mechanism being located close to the lance tip when the lance is in its retracted position.
Abstract: A central flow prosthetic cardiac valve for disposition in the heart and the aorta for controlling the pulsatile flow of blood into and from the heart, having a plurality of valve flaps for positive opening and closing of the valve during pulsatile flow of the blood.
Abstract: A valve mechanism for draining liquid from a container with a pressurized gas. A pipe extends into the container to permit flow of liquid to an outlet. A nut mounts other components of the valve mechanism into the container when the nut is secured in the container opening.A socket releasably connects the pipe and nut whenever the nut is not secured to the container. This allows the pipe, socket and nut to be manufactured separately and also permits replacement of a worn component without having to replace the entire valve mechanism.
Abstract: A check valve adapted for mounting between the faces of a pair of pipe flanges having flow passages of equal diameters and joined by bolts circumferentially spaced about the flanges. A valve body having a cylindrical flow passage therethrough is formed with end sections, each of which has a surface adapted for sealing engagement with a face of the pipe flanges, and a clapper being mounted for pivoting between a closed position completely blocking the valve body flow passage and an open position withdrawn from the flow passage but within the valve body.
Abstract: A clamshell bucket apparatus adapted to be suspended from a cable or line which may be used for raising, lowering and operating the bucket for picking up and dumping a load.
Abstract: A buoyant marine riser system adapted to extend from a floating platform to a subsea wellhead wherein one or more riser sections include a series of circumferentially spaced, elongated, hollow, closed buoyant tanks containing a gaseous medium to make such riser sections substantially buoyant.
Abstract: New and improved apparatus and method for seismic exploration on land transports sensing geophones with a flat, lightweight, towing medium or sheet which conforms to the earth's surface. The geophones are mounted on sleds attached to the towing medium by strips or members of resilient material which isolate and decouple the geophone from vibrations and the like induced, sensed, or transmitted by the towing medium. The resilient members enable the geophones and sleds to continually maintain contact with the earth's surface over irregularities in the surface to provide good ground coupling for more accurate seismic exploration results. Plural or multiple towing mediums may be coupled together and towed into place for use in accordance with the desired geophone array to be used.
Abstract: Apparatus for constructing reinforced concrete modular construction units comprising longitudinally extending multi-sided construction units. Reinforcing bars and mesh are formed into a cage of the desired size and shape for the particular unit. Such cage is mounted on a rotatable shaft which may also be raised and lowered relative to a horizontal bed. Each side of the modular construction unit is in turn positioned in a perimeter form on the bed in which the concrete is poured and finished flat to form each side of the modular unit. After each side has cured a sufficient time to insure its structural integrity the cage is raised and rotated to align another side of the cage with the horizontal bed. The cage is lowered into position adjacent the bed in a suitable form and concrete is poured around the reinforcing structure on that side of the cage to form that side of the wall of the building. Successive sides are similarly formed until the longitudinally extending hollow construction unit has been completed.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a model, and the making of such model, of subsurface features of the earth, utilizing a plurality of processed seismic sections spaced apart in a manner representing the disposition of the seismic profiles along seismic survey lines from which they came. The technique facilitates the making of interpretive geological judgements, and is of particular utility when direct indications of hydrocarbons exist.
Abstract: An apparatus to control the depth in the water of a cable, such as a cable streamer of seismic geophones or hydrophones towed behind an exploration boat during seismic surveys of submerged formations, and maintain the cable at a desired depth while operating at reduced noise levels and with improved operating characteristics. The depth at which the cable is maintained may be adjusted for a range of selected depths.
