  • Patent number: 6470376
Abstract: The counter 52 is set with an initial value of “1” and is a counter with a maximum value of “4”. This counter 52 increments the count value held by the flip-flop 51 in synchronization with a clock signal so that the count value changes as shown by the progression 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4. This clock signal is also used by the instruction decode control unit 11 to control the execution of instructions, with the counting by the counter 52 being performed once for each instruction execution performed by the instruction decode control unit 11. The comparator 54 compares the count value counted by the counter 52 with the maximum value “4”, and when the values match, sets the task switching signal chg_task_ex at a “High” value, so that the processing switches to the execution of the next task.

  • Patent number: 6457174
Abstract: A code export symbol offset table A 1128 stores sets of the identifier and the offset of the area of a code symbol. In an export symbol import step 1160, the identifier that matches the identifier of a symbol is retrieved from the code export symbol offset table A 1128, the offset corresponding to the retrieved identifier is extracted, and a predetermined calculation is performed to create an absolute address.

  • Patent number: 6421965
Abstract: A seismic brace for fastening to a support rod at one end and a structural portion of a building, on the other end. The brace is attachable to the support rod without disconnecting it. The brace arm part is bent at an angle of 45° to form a base bracket that connects to the support rod. A locking bracket is hinged to the brace arm to overlay the base bracket. Both the base bracket and locking bracket have a slot extending from an edge towards the middle, the slots are arranged so that they form an aperture when the locking bracket overlays the base bracket part of the brace arm to completely enclose the support rod.

  • Patent number: 6407519
Abstract: A signal is sent to a deflection circuit and a video signal processing circuit. On receiving the signal, the deflection circuit outputs a vertical deflection signal and a horizontal deflection signal. The vertical deflection signal is sent directly to a deflection yoke while the horizontal deflection signal is sent via an S-shaped wave modulation circuit to the deflection yoke. On the other hand, the video signal processing circuit receives the signal and outputs a video signal via an amplitude modulation circuit and a frequency modulation circuit to a cathode of an electron gun. The S-shaped wave modulation circuit performs modulation on the horizontal deflection signal to change scanning speed. The amplitude modulation circuit and the frequency modulation circuit perform, on the video signal, amplitude modulation and frequency modulation which are appropriate for this speed.

  • Patent number: 6317547
Abstract: Attenuation of an optical signal at the end of an optical fiber is achieved by positioning a high absorption region at the end of the fiber. A first embodiment teaches highly doped cylinders within a tapered end of the fiber. The highly doped cylinders adjacent the light transmitting core serves to absorb light at the end of the fiber. The light transmitting core of the fiber is reduced in diameter due to the tapering, causing the field of light to expand beyond the core. The highly doped cylinders are in proximity to the core due to the tapering. The cylinders, which are preferably heavily doped with a rare earth such as erbium, absorb the escaping light in sufficient quantities, both in the initial pass through the tapered region and again upon reflection of the light at the end of the tapered region, such that the attenuation of the reflected light is within acceptable limits without regard to the condition of the fiber's end surface.

  • Patent number: 6265721
Abstract: This invention provides an EDS detector in which even if connecting pipes vibrate due to gas flow, such vibration will not be transferred to a cryostat side and in which a small-sized gas-circulation-type refrigerator is provided in the cryostat sliding in a given direction, helium gas is supplied through the connecting pipes to the refrigerator, and an x-ray detecting element is cooled by means of the refrigerator. In connecting pipes, a connecting pipe body portion is connected to a pressure-converting value unit which is fixedly held in a vibration-proofing stand. Additionally, weights can be selectively applied to a flexible connecting pipe to further dampen vibrations.

  • Patent number: 6226446
Abstract: A multimedia optical disk is provided. The multimedia optical disk includes a data area for storing objects which include moving picture data and at least one of audio data and sub-picture data. The multimedia optical disk also includes an index area for storing reproduction orders of the objects. Route information in the index area includes a sequence of addresses of objects whose alignment represents a reproduction order. Chain control information in the index area corresponds to the route information. The chain control information, being effective in reproducing objects specified by the alignment of the sequence of addresses (objects specified by the alignment of the sequence of addresses are called a chain), instructs the reproduction apparatus to have a navigation control of the chain. A piece of moving picture data having a certain time period is reproduced at the same timing as a piece of audio data and a piece of sub-picture data.

  • Patent number: 6182215
Abstract: A verifier and a claimant notify each other of verifier type information and claimant type information, respectively. The verifier determines a verifier method corresponding to a combination of the verifier type information and the notified claimant type information, generates challenge data in accordance with the determined verifier method, and transmits the challenge data to the claimant. On receiving the challenge data from the verifier, the claimant determines a claimant method corresponding to the combination of the claimant type information and the notified verifier type information. The claimant then performs claimant processing on the challenge data using the determined claimant method to obtain response data, and transmits the response data to the verifier. On receiving the response data from the claimant, the verifier performs verifier processing on the response data using the determined verifier method.
