Abstract: A scraper truck includes a main scraper mounted to a wheeled vehicle and side scrapers pivoted to the main scraper at its ends. The side scrapers are pivotally movable between extended lateral positions where the side scrapers extend outboard of the opposite ends for collecting debris located outboard of the vehicle's width, and a retracted position where the side scrapers are in overlapped juxtaposed storage positions close to and in front of the main scraper. The main scraper has a front face that is concavely shaped. The scraper mount defines a vertical pivot axis and the scraper assembly is rotatable about the vertical pivot axis upon striking an object toward an end of the scraper. A biasing mechanism is provided for biasing the scraper toward a centered forwardly-facing position, and a shear pin is configured to break prior to damage to the scraper or vehicle frame.

  • Patent number: 7884317
Abstract: Circuits for correcting base line shift of the detector coupling circuit of a TOFMS provide gain and impedance characteristics that compensate for the AC coupling effect of the detector. In one circuit, base line correction is achieved by injecting a current equal to that which flows due to the buildup charge in the detectors AC coupling network. In another circuit, the current source drives an integrator which is coupled to the signal path to reduce the detector AC coupling effects. In another circuit, a low noise amplifier utilizes a feedback network that reduces the detector AC coupling effects. In yet another circuit, an operational amplifier is employed to reduce the detector AC coupling effects.

  • Patent number: 7882718
Abstract: A computer controlled roll-forming apparatus is adapted to provide a repeating pattern of different longitudinal shapes to a continuous beam “on the fly” during the roll-forming process. A sweep station of the apparatus includes a primary bending roller tangentially engaging the continuous beam along the line level and an armature for biasing the continuous beam against the primary bending roller for a distance partially around a downstream side of the primary bending roller to form a sweep. Actuators adjustably move the armature partially around the downstream side of the primary bending roller between multiple positions for imparting a series of different longitudinal shapes. Internal and external mandrels control wall stability to allow even sharper sweeps. In one form, the apparatus also includes a coordinated cut-off, so that when separated into bumper beam segments, the ends of the individual beam segments have a greater sweep than their center sections.

  • Patent number: 7885772
Abstract: The IT and FT values for coal and coke samples can be accurately predicted by applying equations to determine ST and HT temperatures. For reducing atmospheres, the equations are IT=C1×ST?C2×HT+C3 and FT=C4×HT?C5×ST+C6. For oxidizing atmospheres, the equations are IT=C7×ST?C8×HT+C9 and FT=C10×HT?C11×ST+C12. IT is the initial deformation temperature. ST is the softening temperature. HT is the hemispherical temperature. FT is the fluid temperature. C1-C12 are constants determined by multi-linear regression coefficient analytical techniques on a collection of data.

  • Patent number: 7879273
Abstract: The fifth wheel hitch lube plate of the present invention comprises a perforated support member having a plurality of perforations and a lubricious material molded around the perforated support member such that the lubricious material covers both the top and bottom surfaces of the perforated support member and extends through the perforations formed in the perforated support member. Preferably, the support member is a perforated metal plate and the lubricious material is nylon, graphite, or an ultra-high molecular weight (UHMW) polyethylene material. The problems associated with utilizing nylon (or similar materials) and bonding it to a support plate are overcome by forming the plurality of apertures in the support plate so that a mechanical cohesive bond is formed between the upper and lower surfaces of the support plate, thereby substantially increasing the lube plate strength, and shear strength, while decreasing the likelihood that the lube plate may buckle.
