  • Patent number: 4783301
Abstract: The specification discloses a polybutene-1 polymer product and method and apparatus for making same in which the polymer is introduced into a form which defines the shape of the desired part and is then subjected to shear at a temperature from just above to just below the melting point of the polybutene-1 polymer, achieved by positioning the polymer blend between a shell and a mandrel and rotating the two relative to one another. When the viscosity of the polymer reaches a maximum, the part solidified and removed for subsequent use.

The system has a plurality of radiating antennas having independent components defining a reference coordinate frame. A transmitter is provided for applying electrical signals to the antennas which generate a plurality of radio frequency electromagnetic fields. The signals are multiplexed so that the electromagnetic fields are distinguishable from one another. An array of control positions is provided that is fixed with respect to the reference coordinate frame. A plurality of receiving antennas are provided which are adapted for mounting on the head of an operator. The receiving antennas are provided with independent components for detecting and measuring the components of the electromagnetic fields. A sight couples the eyes of the operator and the array of control positions.

  • Patent number: 4633742
Abstract: A controller and method are provided for controlling pneumatic presses, and similar machines. The controller comprises a gauge to measure increments of stock length passing through the press, a length recorder to set the desired piece length, and a length comparator which compares the readout of the gauge with the preset recorder piece length, and when equal, generates a stroke initiate signal. The stroke initiate signal opens an air valve portion of the pneumatic press to communicate pressurized air with the power side of an air actuated ram, which in turn converges the press platens to perform the desired press function, such as punching holes, notching, cutoff, or the like. The controller also includes a timer to measure time beginning from the stroke initiate signal, a time recorder to set the time the air valve is to remain open, and a time comparator which compares the readout of the timer with the preset valve open time, and when equal, generates a stroke halt signal.

  • Patent number: 4627223
Abstract: The package comprises a flat, rectangular cardboard sheet (1) and a separate wrapper element (2) made of a flexible material. A problem to be resolved is to provide a package which is readily and quickly manually wrappable and is suitable for use with varying amounts of goods. To resolve this problem, the separate wrapper element (2) is adhered by gluing transversely to the surface of said cardboard sheet. The wrapping is effected in such a manner that a product to be wrapped up, which is narrower than the width of said cardboard sheet, is wrapped in wrapper element (2) and the ends of said cardboard sheet are overlapped on top of the product against each other and therearound is tightened a binding strip (6), extending transversely of the cardboard sheet and urging the freely extending edge portions of said cardboard sheet towards each other.
