Abstract: One embodiment of the portable electronic device according to the present invention includes a housing provided with a camera 6 to enable image capture. In the housing, arranged are a pressure sensor 5 for detecting that the housing is in a submerged state, a speaker 3 for emitting shutter sound at the time of photographing using the camera 6, and a control circuit 1 for controlling an operation of the speaker 3. When the pressure sensor 5 detects that the housing is in the submerged state, the control circuit 1 increases volume of the shutter sound emitted from the speaker 3.
Abstract: Biomarkers are identified by analyzing gene expression data using support vector machines (SVM), recursive feature elimination (RFE) and/or linear ridge regression classifiers to rank genes according to their ability to separate prostate cancer from normal tissue. Proteins expressed by identified genes are detected in patient samples to screen, predict and monitor prostate cancer.
Abstract: Adjusting the duration of first content having a plurality of segments including: identifying at least one segment of the first content; deleting the at least one identified segment from the first content to form modified content; and inserting transition periods between segments remaining in the modified content, wherein the transition periods are inserted to adjust the duration of the modified content to a desired duration.

The layered lighting assembly includes a PCB with an array of LEDs mounted thereon with the LEDs in thermal communication with a bottom surface of the PCB. A thermal bridge abuts the bottom surface of the PCB on one side and a heat sink on the other. A thermally conductive potting material fills spaces between the heat sink and the back shell portion. An underwater connector provides releasable connection to an electrical cable for providing power to drive the plurality of LEDs. A quick-release mechanical fastener is attached to the housing for releasably attaching the modular light unit to a support structure installed within the hazardous underwater environment.

Abstract: A business process or project management system provides for creation of a project or process definition which includes all activities required to complete the process as well as any dependencies, conditions, and deadlines for each activity, and participants designated to carry out the activities. Once the process is started, activities are carried out in turn when the dependencies and conditions are met, and the system updates when any activities are complete so that any activities dependent on completed activities can be started. A reporting module creates status reports for each activity which are displayed to a user such as an administrator on a user interface. Stored information on previous instances of an activity are used to predict when an activity is likely to be late and to provide alerts to users prior to starting the activity.
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for viewing portions of an image in high resolution and in context with a full image, which is displayed at a base resolution that is lower resolution than the resolution of the high-resolution image. A user can select an area of interest from the base-resolution image for viewing at a higher resolution on the client device. The server, or in some implementations the client device, can generate a high-resolution image representing the area of interest and the client device can display a portion of the high-resolution image in a virtual lens overlaid on the base-resolution image.

Abstract: A communication system comprises a communication device configured to receive a data message, such as a text message, and to generate and send a voice reply to the data message using a simple transmit action. The data message comprises an identifier that can be used to determine a reply path related to the data message. Thus, when a user receives the data message, they can read the message initiate the simple transmit action, and reply to the data message by speaking an appropriate reply into the communication device. The spoken response is stored as a voice message and attached to a data message that is sent using the reply path identified by the identifier.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for assessment of hemodynamic and functional state of the brain is disclosed. In one embodiment, the method and apparatus includes non-invasive measurement of intracranial pressure, assessment of the brain's electrical activity, and measurement of cerebral blood flow. Abstract: Whitespace devices can use unused television frequencies for transmission and reception of WiFi OFDM signals. Three contiguous bands, such as former channels 2, 3, and 4, may be bonded together to define a whitespace band. In order to fit a WiFi OFDM signal into this whitespace band, a whitespace device compresses the bandwidth of each WiFi OFDM signal using a specific spectrum mask. Very low transmission power is needed for the modified WiFi OFDM signals, eliminating the need for high power amplifiers and most of the WiFi OFDM designs such as PHY and MAC can be reused with minor modifications.
