  • Patent number: 7507774
Abstract: The present invention provides an irradiated crosslinked polyethylene containing reduced free radicals, preferably containing substantially no residual free radical. Disclosed is a process of making irradiated crosslinked polyethylene by irradiating the polyethylene in contact with a sensitizing environment at an elevated temperature that is below the melting point, in order to reduce the concentration of residual free radicals to an undetectable level. A process of making irradiated crosslinked polyethylene composition having reduced free radical content, preferably containing substantially no residual free radicals, by mechanically deforming the polyethylene at a temperature that is below the melting point of the polyethylene, optionally in a sensitizing environment, is also disclosed herein.

  • Patent number: 7506147
Abstract: A “policy distribution point” (PDP) allows service drivers to be installed remotely and automatically without rebooting the PDP or otherwise interrupting existing network-based services. The exposure of sensitive configuration data to non-secure networks is minimized by placing PDPs close to the devices to be configured. Service drivers on the PDP can be reused to configure multiple devices of the same type. The PDP receives an “activation” and uses a service driver on the PDP to translate the activation into “device-specific instructions.” The device-specific instructions are sent to a device and configure the device to set up the network-based service. One or more PDPs can be used to configure both computing device and networking devices to provide a single service.

  • Patent number: 7501600
Abstract: Plasma ignition and cooling apparatus and methods for plasma systems are described. An apparatus can include a vessel and at least one ignition electrode adjacent to the vessel. A total length of a dimension of the at least one ignition electrode is greater than 10% of a length of the vessel's channel. The apparatus can include a dielectric toroidal vessel, a heat sink having multiple segments urged toward the vessel by a spring-loaded mechanism, and a thermal interface between the vessel and the heat sink. A method can include providing a gas having a flow rate and a pressure and directing a portion of the flow rate of the gas into a vessel channel. The gas is ignited in the channel while the remaining portion of the flow rate is directed away from the channel.

  • Patent number: 7501028
Abstract: The invention relates to non-grain oriented magnetic steel sheets which can be produced as final annealed and as a non-final annealed types in such a way that they have improved magnetic polarisation and reduced magnetic reversal losses compared with the previously achieved values. This is achieved in that a suitably composed steel, during its cooling starting from a maximum initial temperature of 1,300° C., passes through a temperature range with substantially complete exclusion of a purely austenitic structure (? phase), in which range it comprises an austenite/ferrite dual phase multi-structure (?, ? multi-phases), so the magnetic steel sheet, after hot rolling, etching, cold rolling and annealing of the hot strip obtained after hot rolling, has a magnetic polarisation J2500?1.74 T, measured in the longitudinal direction of the strip or sheet and at a magnetic field strength of 2,500 A/m and a value P1.5(50) of the magnetic losses of <4.5 W/kg, measured in the longitudinal direction of the strip at J=1.

  • Patent number: 7493788
Abstract: A deep rolling roller head includes two housings for the deep rolling of the outer radii or fillets of split-pin crankshaft journals by means of two deep rolling rollers which are pressed into one of the two fillets under a rolling force while the crankshaft rotates around its axis of rotation. The two housings follow at the same time the different movements of the journals and support each other with their insides across from each other on a bearing plate. The insides of the housings bear on either side of the axis of rotation of the crankshaft and at a distance from it on an extension segment extending in the direction of the rolling force to below a contact point between the deep rolling rollers and the fillets to be deep-rolled. The bearing plate connected permanently to the inside and the extensions of one of the two housings.

  • Patent number: 7477042
Abstract: A power supply for an ion engine comprises a multiphase alternator and a power converter comprising a voltage multiplier coupled to each phase of the alternator. Each voltage multiplier comprises one or more staged voltage doublers. The alternator phases may be coupled to each other in a Y configuration such that no common return line is required, and each phase of the alternator provides equal amounts of constant power in a balanced, sequential flow. The converter corrects for the alternator's inherent internal reactance, thereby minimizing the required output of the alternator and reducing the overall power required of the system. A controllable impedance can be inserted into a low voltage portion of the multiplier for selectably varying the output voltage and power of the supply.

  • Patent number: 7467011
Abstract: An article of clothing is pro-vided for selectively destroying dividing cells in living tissue formed of dividing cells and non-dividing cells. The dividing cells contain polarizable intracellular members and during late anaphase or telophase, the dividing cells are connected to one another by a cleavage furrow. The article of clothing includes insulated electrodes to be coupled to a generator for subjecting the living tissue to electric field conditions sufficient to cause movement of the polarizable intracellular members toward the cleavage furrow in response to a non-homogeneous electric field being induced in the dividing cells. The non-homogeneous electric field produces an increased density electric field in the region of the cleavage furrow. The movement of the polarizable intracellular intracellular members towards the cleavage furrow causes the breakdown thereof which adversely impacts the multiplication of the dividing cells.
