Abstract: A modular, wheeled vehicle suitable for military use, includes a driver module having a width for seating one person and having length for seating a second (and optional third) person therebehind, and an engine module disposed behind the driver module containing an engine for powering the modular vehicle. The engine module has a rear surface adapted to receive a storage module. The driver module and the engine module form a central element having a pair of sides, a bottom, and a top. The central element is adapted to receive the modules on both of the central element sides. The central element has air inlet for personnel and for the engine disposed atop the central element. The bottom of the central element and troop side pods generally are V-shaped with slanted, upward extending sides.

Abstract: There is disclosed a cleaning composition comprising (i) 0.1 to 10 percent by weight of the cleaning composition of a biofilm removing detergent solution comprising a combination of an alkyl (C8-18) polysaccharide, a non-ionic surfactant and a nitrogen containing surfactant-biocide (ii) 2 to 80 percent by weight of the cleaning composition of one or more polar solvent (iii) 0.5 to 15 percent by weight of the cleaning composition of one or more primary amine (iv) two or more chelating agents (v) 0.1 to 5.0 percent by weight of the cleaning composition of an alkaline buffer system providing a pH of about 11.5 to 13.3 in aqueous solution (vi) 0.005 to 5.0 percent by weight of the cleaning composition of an alkoxyaminosilane. Also disclosed is a process of cleaning, decontaminating and/or passivating metallic surgical instruments and/or equipment using the composition of the invention.

In one aspect, the system for implementing a secure processor stick with a computer, the system comprising: a secure processor stick, including: a processor; a memory coupled to said processor; a smart chip coupled to said processor, said smart chip storing data for implementing a secure environment; and an operating system adapted to run on said memory and said processor, wherein said operating system is adapted to provide a secure environment for display on a computer using said data.

Abstract: ClotFoam is a surgical sealant and hemostatic agent designed to be used in cases of non-compressible hemorrhage. It can be applied in the operating room through laparoscopic ports, or directly over lacerated tissue in laparotomy procedures or outside the operating room through a mixing needle and/or a spray injection method following abdominal, chest, extremities or other intracavitary severe trauma to promote hemostasis. Its crosslinking technology generates an adhesive three-dimensional polymeric network or scaffold that carries a fibrin sealant required for hemostasis. When mixed, Clotfoam produces a foam that spreads throughout a body cavity reaching the lacerated tissue to seal tissue and promote the coagulation cascade. The viscoelastic attachment properties of the foam as well as the rapid formation of a fibrin clot that ensure that the sealant remains at the site of application without being washed away by blood or displaced by movement of the target tissue.

Abstract: A device for selective attachment to a conventional aluminum beverage can with internal liquid-holding pouch. A flavoring, alcohol based, energy drink, a medication, etc. can be contained in the device and mixed with the liquid contained in beverage cans. With the device atop a can and the device and can opened, tilting and pouring the liquid of the can causes liquid within the device to be dispensed and entrained into the stream of the liquid exiting the beverage can. A mixed drink can be provided comprised of the first liquid of the device and the second liquid provided by the can. Substantially uniform concentration of the two liquids is maintained from start to finish. Mixing occurs on an incremental basis and there is no substantial mixing of liquid from the device within the chamber of the can or from the liquid of the can within the cavity/pouch of the device.

Abstract: A safety system for connection to a toxic gas detector and a toxic gas producing engine, and its operating method, includes an interrupt device coupled to connections to the detector and the engine. The interrupt device includes a toxic gas signal detecting circuit and a circuit for permitting starting of the engine. The detecting circuit activates the permitting circuit if the toxic gas signal represents a toxic gas concentration below a predetermined level. In one embodiment, the permitting circuit is activated if the safety system is healthy and fully functional. Similarly, a safety system for connection to a toxic gas detector and a toxic gas supply, and its operating method, includes an interrupt device coupled to connections to the detector and the toxic gas supply. The interrupt device includes a toxic gas signal detecting circuit and a circuit for permitting of flow from the toxic gas supply.

A physical node may receive a request for authorization for a user in an organization to access an individual's information in another organization. The request may be logged. The physical node may determine whether the user is authorized to access the individual's information and, if it is, provide appropriate access.

Abstract: Process of communication via HTTP or HTTPS between a device running Java ME® and a server over the air, said server receiving and transmitting SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) messages from/to an operator on a host over a network and being capable of exchanging SOAP messages under Application Protocol Data Unit (APDU) data form/with the device, characterized in that the SOAP messages are translated from/to binary messages according to a protocol in the server, said binary messages being exchanged with the device, the binary messages being binary request messages or binary response messages.

Abstract: The invention relates to smartcard under SecureMMC standard, the card being connected to a host through a MMC bus and being compliant to ISO/IEC7816 standard. According to the invention, the card is multi-application operation capable and a determined number N of commands can be processed in the card in parallel, being the number of logical channels the card can support, the card has means for using a command or a response which is encapsulated in an information field of a bloc frame, said bloc frame also having at least a prologue field for at least identifying the source node application and the destination node application in a NAD datum, and the card has means for as long as the number p of active commands in the card is lower than N and none is completed, the card is in Secure_Idle state.

Abstract: An apparatus for adding a secondary substance to a primary liquid within a sealed container, for example, a shot of liquor to be added to a can of soda. A secondary container contains the secondary substance preferably a liquid and has a frangible seal. A mechanism sealingly and mechanically attaches the secondary container to the hull of a primary container having primary liquid. A frangible seal is provided to the secondary container. A penetrator is disposed at least partially within the housing of the secondary container and is at least partially surrounded by the attachment mechanism. —The penetrator causes rupture of the seal and mechanically penetrates through the hull of the primary container. The substance from the secondary container mixes with the liquid of the primary container. The secondary container may attach to the top, side, or bottom of a conventional primary container, a soda can.

Abstract: A subcutaneous drain, preferably for implantation into the skull of a patient comprises a basically hollow cap and a stem with an inside, central passageway passing from top of the cap through the stem. A lumen is provided through at least a portion of the inside, central passageway with the lumen preferably exiting the cap through a side slit in the cap and stem. The lumen is provided with a supporting ledge to reduce kinkage and promote an unimpeded fluid path. The side slit is resilient to allow for the selective removal of the lumen. The cap and stem are, as mentioned, substantially hollow and defines a chamber in communication with the subdural space, so that with the device in place, a physician can use a hypodermic needle to gain access to fluid in the subdural space by piercing the needle tip of the hypodermic syringe or needle through the thin wall of the cap of the device. A circumferential flange is provided to facilitate location of the device. Also, the stem is slightly inwardly tapered.

Abstract: Spinous stabilizing system comprises spaced apart, pointed staples held to a connecting rod, a stabilizing plate and a set of locking caps for the staple's tips. The tips are forced through the spinous process and captured/secured by the locking caps, pulling the stabilizing plate against the spinous process and toward the heads of the staples and connecting rod. A pair of pliers loaded with the components on the lever arms can be squeezed together to cause the tips of the staple to penetrate the spinous processes and then become frictionally captured within the locking caps. The spacing between the staples are adjusted, pre-installation, by a locking screw acting on the connecting rod or, alternatively, after the device is percutanteously inserted, by laterally directed locking screws which mate with and cam a locking wedge. Matingly engageable speculated plates, installed by pliers, can also be used for spinous fixation.

Abstract: Compositions and methods for treatment of dermal scarring and wrinkling, by application to the skin of a cosmetically effective amount of Plantago major or Plantago Lanceolata. The plantain may be utilized in powdered form in an aqueous paste or poultice, or in a crème base or ointment that is applied to the skin for various periods of time from 1 to 10 hours at a frequency of 1-12 times per week, for a period of 3-50 weeks or more. The composition is effective to remediate dermal scarring and wrinkling, and at least partially restore skin to an undamaged, undeteriorated state.

Abstract: A powder cosmetics brush is provided. The brush has a handle and bristles and a magnetic element within the ferrule, between the handle into the base of the bristles. A magnetic or an electromagnet element attracts fine particles of iron-based or other cosmetic powders or foundations having magnetic-attractive particles and/or cosmetic particles and facilitates the application, distribution and removal of excess powder. The magnetic element is allowed to move within the ferrule such that sweeping and swirling motion causes it to knock against the inside wall of the ferrule to thereby dislodge some of the particles of cosmetic powder. The bristles preferably are flared from one end to the other and are cross-hatched to provide a first tier of longer bristles and a second tier of shorter bristles. The two or more tiers of bristles serve to distribute the powder more evenly on the face since the bristles will more effectively follow the contours of the face.
