  • Patent number: 5067570
Abstract: An auger assembly for drilling holes in the ground includes an auger blade mounted for vertical movement and a dirt retaining shell that surrounds the auger blade also mounted for vertical movement in relation to the auger blade. When the hole has been drilled to the length of the auger blade, the retaining shell is lowered down into the hole to surround the auger blade and the auger blade and the retaining shell are removed from the hole simultaneously. The retaining shell retains the dirt on the auger blade to prevent the dirt from falling back into the hole. The drilling and removal of dirt is repeated until the hole reaches the appropriate depth. A pair of lateral extensions provide a cutting edge on the perimeter of the auger blade in order to provide a hole which is slightly larger in diameter than the diameter of the auger blade to permit the retaining shell to be lowered around the auger blade.

  • Patent number: 5066261
Abstract: A coin hopper is provided with a rotary pin wheel for feeding coins to a pay out mechanism. A wiper member is mounted adjacent the rotary pin wheel slightly removed from the position at which the rotary pin wheel feeds coins to the pay out mechanism. The wiper member functions to wipe extra coins off the rotary pin wheel and return them to the hopper basket so that each location on the rotary pin wheel is occupied by only a single coin. A guide member is provided adjacent the position at which the rotary pin wheel feeds coins to the pay out mechanism. The guide member aligns the coins being fed into the pay out mechanism to ensure that the coins enter the pay out mechanism in a flat upright, on edge orientation.

  • Patent number: 5058256
Abstract: A bearing carrier puller tool has a central cylindrical body member that receives a threaded puller bolt. Disposed on each side of the central body member is a mounting member that receives a puller arm threaded therein. Each puller arm has a foot portion designed to interact with an area on the bearing carrier. In one version, the foot portion is generally square and sized so that the foot portion will pass through the space between the spokes on the bearing carrier. The upper end of the foot portion is wedged into contact with the underside of a flat ridge on the bearing carrier to securely hold the foot and thus the puller arm in contact with the bearing carrier. In another version, each puller arm has a J-shaped foot portion that hooks under a spoke on the bearing carrier to securely hold the foot portion and thus the puller arm in contact with the bearing carrier.

  • Patent number: 5054542
Abstract: A heat transfer system for a building and the building's appurtenances utilizes a heat transfer medium that obtains heat from environmental panels. The heat transfer medium flows in a unidirectional mode through the system. The heat transfer medium is passed through heat exchangers where the heat values in the medium are exchanged or transferred to water to raise the temperature of the water which is then subsequently used as hot water for appurtenant building uses. The heat transfer system, independently from the ambient heat obtainable from the environmental panels, can also utilize heat drawn from air conditioning units to both cool the air passing through the air conditioners and to heat the heat transfer medium. This heat is then exchanged or transferred to the various water sources for use in the appurtenant building uses. An electrical control system selectively transfers the available heat values to those appurtenant building uses, giving preference to those uses as determined by the operator.

A pressure head mounted within the casing with the casing having a plurality of tubular inserts embedded therein. Each of the tubular inserts having an exposed longitudinal end portion in tangential alignment with the fins on a rotor. Each insert end portion having a cutaway section that is upwardly arcuately compressed to overlie the fins on rotors rotating beneath the pressure head. Each compressed cutaway portion is formed with an orifice opening from the tubular insert. A pressurized fluid source can be selectively connected to one or more of the tubular inserts to provide pressurized fluid for discharge through the orifices.

  • Patent number: 5031353
Abstract: A dominator wire comprises a plurality of braided strands forming a continous wire. Each separate strand is supplied with an electrical current that is different than the electrical current that is supplied to each of the other strands. A plurality of insulating disks are disposed in spaced relationship a predetermined distance apart along the length of the wire creating discrete wire segments. The spaced distance is selected so that a bird that lands on the wire cannot put both of its feet on the wire between the same two insulating disks. Each wire segment has a single exposed metal conductor segment. When the bird alights on the wire, each foot will contact a different metal conductor segment thereby causing a current to flow through the body of the bird causing the bird to be stunned or killed.

  • Patent number: 5020407
Abstract: A form tool built to be used in a single station of a turret press machine for the sheet metal industry that comprises a punch body rigidly attached to an adjustable form tool head. The adjustable form tool head is quickly adjustable for different forming operations and for different material thickness. The depth of the forming or shaping operation is determined by the length of the punch head. This length is adjusted by lifting a spring loaded outer collar that is keyed to a hardened threaded punch driver. The length is increased or decreased by rotating the punch driver in a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction. The adjustment is made in small increments and permanently locked when the spring loaded collar is released and seated on two locking pins located on the punch head base.

  • Patent number: 5018417
Abstract: The graphic tape slicer comprises a frame having a feed guide at the rear end for receiving the graphic tape from a roll. A cutting blade is mounted in the center of the frame on a traveling blade holder that engages a threaded rod. Rollers through which the tape is extracted are mounted on the front of the frame. The extraction rollers are joined by a pulley arrangement to the threaded rod. When the graphic tape is extracted from the slicer, the front drive rollers rotate which, through the action of the pulleys, causes the threaded rod to rotate. This causes the blade to move along the threads of the threaded rod. This movement effects the cutting blade to move across the width of the graphic tape causing a resulting length of graphic tape being cut at an oblique angle. By disengaging the pulley arrangement, the blade can be positioned in a fixed location along the length of the threaded rod which will result in a straight cut along the length of the graphic tape.

  • Patent number: 5016879
Abstract: A playing field has a plurality of pachinko mazes arranged side by side. Each pachinko maze has a scoring slot at the bottom of the maze. When each playing disk falls into a particular scoring slot, the value of the slot is determined. The value of each scoring slot is changed from game to game by means of a random electronic program so that different winning values occur. In one version of the game, the playing field comprises three parallel pachinko mazes and a disk is dropped into one of each of the pachinko mazes. Each pachinko maze has six scoring slots at the bottom thereof. At the beginning of each game, each scoring slot has one of three possible symbols illuminated--cherries, plum or jackpot. The player wins preselected amounts depending on which combinations of symbols the three playing disks fall into. In another version of the game, eleven playing disks are dropped into eleven parallel pachinko mazes, each maze having only two scoring slots--designated "left" or "right".

  • Patent number: 5013049
Abstract: A deck of 54 cards is used comprising a standard deck of 52 playing cards plus two Jokers. Each Joker has a numerical value of 7 and has no suit value. The Face Cards and 10's count zero, the Aces count 1 and all other cards have their face value. A player and a dealer each receive a hand of five cards. The player may discard and draw up to two cards. The dealer must discard and draw based on preestablished criteria. Between the player and the dealer, whoever has a three card combination closest to the numerical value of 21 without going over wins the hand. If the player and the dealer each achieve the same numerical value other than 21, the hand is a push.If the player and the dealer each achieve 21, this tie may be broken based on the following hand ranking criterion:Rank #1. 6-7-8 of the same suitRank #2. Flush 21 (three cards of the same suite totalling 21)Rank #3. Three 7'sRank #4. Pair 21 (three cards totalling 21: two 6's and a 9, two 8's and a 5 or two 9's and a 3)Rank #5. Other 21 combinations.
