Abstract: Low sulfur gasoline of relatively high octane number is produced from a thermally cracked sulfur-containing naphtha such as coker naphtha, by hydrodesulfurization followed by treatment over an acidic catalyst, preferably a zeolite such as ZSM-5 or zeolite beta with a hydrogenation component, preferably molybdenum.

Abstract: The invention provides an isoparaffin: olefin alkylation process comprising contacting isoparaffin and olefin with a synthetic porous crystalline material which is characterized, in its uncalcined form, by an X-ray diffraction pattern including values substantially as set forth in Table I of the specification and having a composition comprising the molar relationshipX.sub.2 O.sub.3 :(n)YO.sub.2,wherein n is less than about 20, X is a trivalent element and Y is a tetravalent element.

Abstract: The present invention provides a process and apparatus for alkylating an isoparaffin with an olefin which decreases the required catalyst inventory while improving alkylate quality by internally admixing unreacted isoparaffin and alkylate product with the isoparaffin:olefin reactant stream in the draft tube of a decantation reaction vessel.
Abstract: High density polyethylene (HDPE) films, preferably containing blends of HDPE resins or microcrystalline wax, are oriented up to about two times in the machine direction and six times or more in the transverse direction to give films having good dead-fold and water vapor transmission characteristics making them highly suited for packaging, particularly for dry foods when coated with or coextruded with a heat sealable layer, e.g. Surlyn.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of removing mercury from contaminated liquid hydrocarbons (natural gas condensate) by contacting them with a dilute aqueous solution of alkali metal sulfide salt and recovering the treated liquid hydrocarbon. The addition of alkali metal hydroxide enhances the phase separation of hydrocarbon and aqueous solution.
