Abstract: Large thermoplastic articles are injection molded, cooled to a self supporting temperature, transferred to a vessel, the articles being maintained under fluid pressure sufficient to prevent the formation of voids on cooling to ambient temperature.
Abstract: At least one pressure deformable insert is provided in a split ring "V" clamp for flanged plastic lined pipe to aid in alignment of piping elements being joined.
Abstract: A film dispensing carton particularly suited for consumer use has affixed projecting teeth at the bottom thereof and projecting teeth on the edge of the formable cover. When the cover is in the closed position, the teeth of the bottom and the cover intermesh and aid in cutting the film.
Abstract: A waste disposal mixer is shown suitable for the encapsulation of radioactive wastes in synthetic resins. The mixer permits the selective discarding of the agitator member and of a drip pan selectively positionable to receive dripping material from the agitator. The agitator can be selectively replaced, all movements being controlled remotely.
Abstract: Styrene polymer foam is prepared using a mixed blowing agent of carbon dioxide plus ethyl chloride and optionally a fluorocarbon to provide a foam having primary cells and secondary cells formed in the struts and walls.
Abstract: An improved heat transfer or chill roll is disclosed employing a static mandrel, and agitation within the roll together with longitudinal distribution of the heat exchange fluid provides increased uniformity of surface temperature.
Abstract: An oven is provided which has varying temperature zones. The oven is prepared from a pair of opposed elongate metal members, each heated at adjacent ends and a cavity defining a thermally insulating member between the metal bar.
Abstract: Excellently properties, thermoplastic compositions well adapted for conversion by conventional melt-processing extrusion and other ordinary fabrication techniques into very good quality, lightly cross-linked, thermocollapse-resistant, closed-cell plastic foam(s) and the like expanded cellular product(s) are comprised of an intimate mixture of:(A) a sparsely hydroxylated, normally-solid olefin polymer, particularly a linear alkenyl aromatic or polyolefin polymer which is frequently at least substantially a styrene polymer which is generally in copolymeric form with appropriate moieties of comonomers adapted to provide the requisite attached hydroxyl units therein and thereon; and(B) a minor proportion of an inter-reactive, cross-linking polyisocyanate constituent.
Abstract: Block copolymers of the AB(BA).sub.n configuration are employed in the preparation of asphalt blend concentrates. Advantageously asphalt is blended with polymer solution from polymerization reactor and subsequently devolatilized.
Abstract: Low density expanded polystyrene is obtained by extended exposure of particles to atmospheric steam and aging the particles in air. Particles have wrinkled cell walls.
Abstract: Expandable beads and the like of thermoplastic organic polymer material, advantageously lightly-crosslinked in preparation, which are imbibed with halocarbon and/or light hydrocarbon (including mixed) blowing agents are advantageously tempered to provide excellent quality, uniformly fine-celled expanded cellular products therefrom by a quick quench from imbibition temperature to below 10 or so .degree. C. within one minute.
Abstract: Improved shaft seal is provided wherein generally radially extending distendable diaphragms are used to adjust the sealed gap. A flushing lubricant is provided. The seal is particularly suited for use in gear pumps handling viscous materials such as heat plastified thermoplastics.
Abstract: A vinylidene chloride polymer powder, having a second order transition temperature of at least about 50.degree. C., is recovered from a latex and dispersed with moderate shear in a non-solvent for vinylidene chloride polymers, such as a polyol used in the preparation of polyurethane materials. A dispersion of the powder and a polyol is eminently suitable for use in the preparation of polyurethane foams to impart enhanced flame retardancy and load-bearing properties thereto.

Abstract: At least one pressure deformable insert is provided in a split ring "V" clamp for flanged plastic lined pipe to aid in alignment of piping elements being joined.
Abstract: A devolatizing heat exchanger having an annular body with an open end and a closed end. Axially extending heat exchange fluid conduits are axially disposed and radial product conduits are disposed in the annular body. A mixing chamber is enclosed within the annular heat exchanger discharging adjacent the closed end thereof, the annular heat exchanger being enclosed within a jacketed vessel.
Abstract: Synthetic resinous thermoplastic lines in a diaphragm valve are stabilized against movement by extending the lines into recesses in the bonnet receiving face of the valve body.
Abstract: A gravity operated load stabilizing device is provided for use with forklifts the device comprising an inverted J-shaped member which engages the load by gravity when the fork is raised and is disengaged from the load when the fork rests on a surface.
Abstract: A plug valve is provided with a stem seal wherein a generally frustoconical face is provided at the juncture of stem and plug and the seal is fixed against the frustoconical face with a predetermined constant load.
