  • Patent number: 7082944
Abstract: A dual air supply breathing apparatus that allows a user to quickly and easily switch between two or more sources of air or compressed gas, such as filtered air from a Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) and compressed air from a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). In one variation, the dual air supply breathing apparatus uses a Y-shaped changeover valve with two input tubes and one output tube. The first input tube receives filtered air from a PAPR and the second input tube receives compressed air from a tank. An actuator controls a flap valve within the changeover valve to seal off one of the input tubes while creating a flow path between the other input tube and the output tube. The changeover valve may be controlled by manipulating the high-pressure valve on the tank of compressed gas and/or by manipulating the switch that activates the PAPR.

  • Patent number: 7050447
Abstract: A method and system utilizing a multi-level expedited forwarding per hop behavior (MLEF PHB) which manages buffer space to provide priority to calls based on a predefined priority scheme. The MLEF PHB defines a set of configurable parameters that define how much buffer space is available to each class or level of voice call. The MLEF PHB may optionally be implemented as programming statements in the SIP User Agent, SIP Proxy, and kernel of a LINUX-based PC router. The MLEF PHB applies an algorithm for dropping packets exceeding a caller precedence level-specific buffer capacity, which variable buffer capacity is determined by the particular DSCP (and the particular MLEF PHB to which it relates).

  • Patent number: 7043459
Abstract: A Metering Billing and Information Solutions (“MBIS”) system for metering electricity usage and processing associated information includes an automated meter which electronically communicates metering information to a data processing system. The data processing system then appropriately calculates an electric bill using the metering information received from the meter. Additionally, the data processing system electronically stores the metering, billing, and other appropriate consumer account information. The MBIS system also includes an information system, which can be used by a consumer to remotely access the information stored by the data processing system. A payment system is also included in the MBIS system to facilitate electronic payment by a consumer.

  • Patent number: 6771284
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method of providing a navigational aide. In a first aspect of the present invention, a system and method of providing a navigational aide includes monitoring data displayed on a display device and detecting a marker of a section of the displayed data. A navigational aide is displayed in response to the detected marker of the section of displayed data.

  • Patent number: 6731274
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing display brightness on a portable computer when a user switches from an AC adapter to a battery power source provide battery power conservation. The reduction in display brightness is performed gradually so that a sudden brightness drop is not detected by the user. The display brightness reduction is preferably performed sufficiently gradually so that the reduction in brightness is virtually unnoticeable to the human eye.

  • Patent number: 6728776
Abstract: A system and method for the communication of streaming data is disclosed. In an exemplary method of the present invention, a first set of data is received by an information handling system. A second set of data is received via a network wherein the second set of data is continuously streaming. During times when a sufficient amount of streaming data of the second set of data is available for communication, the second set of data is communicated to a user. Otherwise, the first set of data is communicated to the user. In one embodiment, the second set of data may include a video stream viewable by a user. In another embodiment of the present invention, the first data set and the second data set may be transmitted from a first source.
