  • Patent number: 5758175
Abstract: A power conservation system for use in a computer system. The power conservation system has an activity monitor and a plurality of modes of operation. The power conservation system has a power switching unit which couples the power supply to a selected group of the computer system circuits depending upon the power mode of operation. By controlling the power mode in response to the activity of the computer system, the power consumption of the computer system can be controlled.

  • Patent number: 5752181
Abstract: Apparatus for reducing intermodulation distortion in a mixer output signal provides for back-to-back serial connected FET transistors joined at gate and source terminals and cancels intermodulation distortion. In one embodiment the apparatus provides first and second FET having their gates tied to one another and their sources tied to one another such that the FETs are connected back-to-back in series and have equal gate-to-source voltages and FET drain-to-source voltage that are equal in magnitude but opposite in sign to the second FET drain-to-source voltage. A control voltage, such as a local oscillator voltage signal is applied between the FET gate terminals and the FET source terminals to switch the conduction state of the serially connected FETs between a conducting state and a non-conducting state.

  • Patent number: 5748083
Abstract: An advanced asset protection system (APS) includes a small, battery-powered, Asset Protection Device (APD) having circuits for detecting motion and tampering and intrusion of a protected asset or the APD itself. The APD includes a an internal wireless battery-powered transmitter that transmits security system status information such as information that an alarm condition was sensed, or that a tamper condition was sensed, and an APD identifier to a wire-less receiver. It includes a switch configurable multi-port connector module that provides a plurality of asset coupling ports for electrically coupling assets to the APD modular telephone wire. Ports present but not used, are disabled (to prevent false tamper or alarm reports) by port by-pass circuitry. The APD effectively extends the tamper and alarm circuits to remotely connected assets via the multi-port connector.

  • Patent number: 5732345
Abstract: A double balanced dual-quad transformer dual field effect transistor (FET) mixer is disclosed using a first and second (FET) which have their gates electrically connected together, such that the first and second FET are connected in series. The mixer achieves improved isolation by using a first and second diplexer, and an RF and IF coupling network which comprises a flux-coupled IF transformer and a transmission line RF balun.

  • Patent number: 5715397
Abstract: Method, system, and apparatus are described for automatically receiving, at an intermediate processing location, data from a wide variety of remote sources, identifying the format of the data, translating the data to a common file format, sending the data to a recipient in an intermediate format, then translating the data to the specific format needed by the particular recipient. The system operates automatically with little human intervention. A unique system for automatically selecting and implementing specific translation modules is also described. Error checking features ensure that the transferred data matches the original data although the format is altered, and documentary receipts are sent to each section of the system that sends data, and logical, statistical and mathematical operations may be performed on the data.
