Abstract: A portable massager adaptable for foot and wrist applications. An elongated resonator plate is formed from a plurality of contiguous hollow flutes oriented in a longitudinal direction. One or more vibrator cutouts are provided in the resonator plate, passing from its upper side to its lower side. A vibrator, preferably capable of operating from low voltage DC, nests within each cutout. A lower sheet covers the lower side of the resonator plate and lower face of the vibrator. An upper sheet accommodates the upper face of the vibrator and covers at least a portion of the upper side of the resonator plate. Top and bottom vinyl covers encase the massager construction. A vibrator control switch may be included in the power line extending from an external electrical connector to the vibrator. The massager may be powered by a wall transformer or by alternative mobile power sources.
Abstract: A hair pick comprising an elongated base member made from a material which is both flexible and resilient. A plurality of teeth project from an upper side of the base member. Finger engagement means is provided on the lower side of the base member, approximately midway between the base member's ends. Transversely oriented finger gripping means are provided on each of the base ends, having portions extending above and below the base member. With the base member in an unflexed state, the axes of the teeth are substantially parallel. When the hair pick is gripped, forces may be applied through the combination of the finger engagement means and the finger gripping means to flex the base member causing the teeth to be reoriented either into a converging closed position or a diverging open position.
Abstract: A dynamic heat sink engine including a storage vessel having a working fluid outlet and a working fluid inlet. The lower portion of the storage vessel contains a cryogenic working fluid, such as liquid hydrogen, at a temperature at near its boiling point. The engine further includes a working fluid circuit extending between the working fluid outlet and the working fluid inlet of the storage vessel. The working fluid circuit includes the serial connection of the following components from the working fluid outlet to the working fluid inlet: a fluid pump; a vaporizer having a liquid line passing therethrough; a heater; an expansion engine having a rotary output shaft; an electrical generator connected to the rotary output shaft of the expansion engine; a vapor line passing through the vaporizer, the vaporizer including a heat exchanger providing thermal communication between the liquid line and the vapor line.
Abstract: A cartridge seal is co-axially secured within the circular aperture of a back plate bolted to a pump housing. Annular recesses are provided around inner and outer sides of the back plate, surrounding the circular aperture. The cartridge-type seal includes a stationary gland assembly and a rotatable shaft collar assembly. The inner side of the gland assembly includes a taper bore surrounding the pump drive shaft, and a circumferential lip. The lip nests within the inner annular recess of the back plate. The outer side of the gland assembly includes a circumferential groove. The collar assembly is locked to the drive shaft by means of setscrews. A snap-ring within the circumferential groove of the gland assembly is located within the outer side recess of the back plate. The snap-ring precludes axial movement of the gland assembly, while allowing quick removal and replacement of the cartridge seal.
