    Abstract: Indene is recovered in ultrahigh purity from a liquid hydrocarbon mixture comprising indene and organic impurities of which at least one has a melt point above indene and of which at least one has a melt point below indene by a process comprising (1) crystallizing a substantial portion of indene from the mixture and (2) separating the mother liquor from the crystalline indene by passing a non-reactive gas through the crystalline indene.
