    Abstract: A tissue processing cassette adapted for processing small tissue specimens includes a base frame and a lid frame, each including a central opening and a face adapted to abut the face of the other in registered relationship in a closed position. A porous screen spans the central opening of each of the base frame and the lid frame, the screens being spaced apart when the cassette is closed, whereby the base frame, the lid frame and the screens define an enclosed area for holding a tissue specimen during preparation for histological examination. The porous screen permits processing fluids to flow through the enclosure, but resists entry of particulate contaminants into the enclosure, and also resists outflow of small tissue specimens from the enclosure during processing. The enclosure has an interior perimeter surface that includes no sharp corners that can trap a small specimen.

    Abstract: A cap and dispensing fitment combination for a container. The cap has an end wall and a skirt extending axially from the periphery of the end wall, the cap being adapted to engage the neck of the container. The end wall of the cap has an annular flange that extends axially and radially outwardly therefrom, the annular flange terminating in a free end surface that facilitates securing the dispensing fitment to the cap. The dispensing fitment comprises an end wall having at least one opening therein, the annular flange engaging into the opening. The dispensing fitment has a sidewall extending axially from the periphery of the end wall and is adapted to engage the container when the combination is placed on the container and to retain the dispensing fitment on the container even as the cap is removed from the container.

    Abstract: A repairable cable assembly includes a corrugated metal tubing backshell secured at one end to the end of stiff preferably electrically shielding cable sleeve and at the other end to a coupling assembly which is detachable from a connector and retractable along wiring extending from the cable sleeve through axial collapse of the corrugated metal tubing to provide access to the connections of the wiring to electrical contacts housed in the connector. Where the cable sleeve is braided wire, a waterproof thermosetting polymer cover is provided over the braided wire and its connections to the corrugated metal tubing backshell. The coupling assembly can include a straight, right or other angle tubular member to which the corrugated tubing is secured.

    Abstract: An impact load controller (28) compensates for the speed drop of a drive motor (12), which speed drop is caused by a load disturbance applied to the drive motor (12). A change in the dynamics of a speed controller (30, 34) in a speed regulator system for a stand in a tandem rolling mill is initiated by detecting a speed error (WE) which is greater than a predetermined speed error value and is removed after the speed error has been reduced to a predetermined value. The controller (28) is a pure rate controller whose input is converted into a rate change in speed error, which is multiplied by a gain factor. The resultant gain value product is initially increased by a predetermined factor to provide a high input signal to the (PI) speed controller (34) of a multi-loop speed regulator system for the drive motor (12), and to precharge a low pass filter.

    Abstract: A control system for one or more dc motors in which thyristor power modules selectively gate portions of half cycles of ac voltage to the motor field and armature windings, has digitally implemented parallel inner control loops for the armature which each generate an intermediate control signal to which proportional plus derivative control action has been applied. Logic selects the intermediate control signal which phases back firing pulses for the thyristor power modules the most for application to a common digital integrator which produces a control signal having proportional plus integral control action. The voltage across each of the thyristors is monitored and used to detect continuous and discontinuous current operation for adjusting integrator gain.

    Abstract: A squeeze container has a flexible tubular body and a separately molded bottom cover. The bottom cover has an axially facing continuous groove in which the open end of the tubular body seats with the end surface of the tube abutting the bottom surface of the groove. A radially outwardly extending flange spaced axially from the open end of the container has a bottom surface which abuts a top surface on a lip extending radially outward from the groove in the bottom cover. A tubular extension on the bottom cover radially inward of the groove has an outer surface which abuts the inner surface of the tubular body. Sonic energy directors in the form of continuous pointed ribs effect sonic welds between each of the sets of abutting surfaces to hermetically seal the bottom cover to the tubular body.

    Abstract: In an arrangement for a tandem cold mill in order to compensate for "speed effect," each stand has a roll force memory unit and an oil film roll force controller unit which operate together, and in conjunction with a tensiometer, to maintain a relatively constant roll gap during the acceleration and deceleration phases of the mill. In threading, in tailing out, and in a full run speed of the mill, the roll force memory unit is constantly operating to obtain a "lock on" roll force reference for the stand prior to the acceleration or deceleration phase. A roll force error signal, which is the difference between a roll force reference of the roll force memory unit and an instantaneous roll force, enters the oil film roll controller. A proportional integrator type controller in the oil film roll force controller unit changes the roll force error signal within a limit of +25% of the desired tension.
