Abstract: Optimized delivery of locally applicable Internet content to users. A cache of locally applicable Internet content is maintained in a local content server, based upon a monitoring of locations of users requesting Internet content. Requests for Internet content are received from user equipment through a wireless network base station, and served from the local content server, which is logically proximate to the wireless network base station. The caching of locally applicable Internet content may be maintained on a layered basis. Secure action request receipt and corresponding performance, and item condition alerts are also described.

Abstract: A display apparatus that can improve power savings in a waiting mode is disclosed. The display apparatus (0) is used as a display component of an electronic device capable of switching between a normal power consumption state and a low power consumption state and includes a panel in which a display area (2) and a peripheral circuit section for driving the display area are integrally formed on an insulating substrate (1). The circuit section switches between an operation mode and a waiting mode responsive to switching between the normal power consumption state and the low power consumption state of a main body of the electronic device. In the waiting mode, a standby control operation stops driving the display area 2 and inactivates the circuit section to suppress power consumption.

Abstract: A vacuum cleaner assembly comprising a body, a motor disposed within the body and having an output shaft for rotating about axis, a fan coupled to the output shaft for generating a vacuum airflow through an air intake port in the body, and a separator coupled to the output shaft. The separator includes a cup shaped body and a flange extending radially from the open top to an outer periphery. The separator includes a spider, integrated therewithin, having a hub portion surrounding the shaft, and a plurality of helical blades integral with and extending radially from the hub portion to the vanes and integral with the wall. The separator is one piece molded component that may provide for better turbulence characteristics during suction of the air, increase the centrifugal forces to separate the dust and debris from the air flow.

Abstract: A system and method for providing telephone type services over the internetwork commonly known as the Internet. Wireless digital telephones in communication with wireless digital communications systems have speech coders that generate digital voice samples, and encoders that encode the digital voice samples to minimize bit errors during RF transmission. The wireless digital communications system demodulates the received modulated wireless signal transmitted by the digital telephone to recover the encoded, digital voice samples. The error correction codes within the encoded, digital voice samples are removed to recover the original digital voice samples generated by the vocoder in the digital telephone.

Abstract: A digital video signal processor using parallel processing includes an input serial-access memory having memory cells in which data is inputted into successive ones of the memory cells in response to a programmed-controlled pointer and a three or more port data memory unit for writing-in data read out from the serial-access memory. An arithmetic logic unit responds to stored-program control to read out data from the data memory, perform a program-prescribed arithmetic operation, and write the result of the arithmetic operation back to the data memory. An output serial-access memory is controlled so that the arithmetic result will be outputted under program control in a sequential manner. Operation of the interconnected components is effected by a stored-program control unit connected to the input serial-access memory, the data memory, the arithmetic logic unit, and the output serial-access memory.

Abstract: An upwardly retracting vehicle door is disclosed, such as for use on the rear of a mini-van. The door includes a lower primary door panel and an upper secondary door panel, such as a glass window, that is retractable into the primary door panel. The primary door panel includes rollers on both side edges for slidably mounting the primary door panel on channels located on the vehicle body. When the primary door panel is opened, the window retracts into the primary door panel while the primary door panel travels upward toward the window and along an arcuate path preferably into a pocket within the vehicle roof. In a first embodiment of the invention, a single weather seal is used for both the primary door panel and window on each side with the primary door panel sliding over the seal when opening and closing. In a second embodiment, separate seals for the primary door panel and window are used on each side.
