  • Patent number: 5870866
Abstract: The foundation and support system for a manufactured structure comprises a plurality of vertically adjustable supports fixedly mounted on footings in an excavated area under the structure. The adjustable supports are fixedly attached to main support stringers to support the weight and anchor the structure in the ground. A plurality of thin elongated foundation wall panels are cambered outwardly with respect to the periphery of the home to serve as a flexible retaining wall for backfill with the ability to flex along the longitudinal access to accommodate small movements in the home and strong winds without breaking or pulling out the fasteners and adds stability in the nature of tie downs which resist lifting. Three variations of the panels provide lap joints for running lengths and corners which may be sealed with flexible adhesive to resist entry of water in the space under the structure.

  • Patent number: 5842355
Abstract: A refrigeration controller is provided which thermostatically controls a refrigerated compartment temperature. A heated evaporator is provided within a certain wattage range to accelerate defrosting. The controller maintains the compartment temperature within a certain operating range; if the compartment temperature rises above a certain preselected maximum temperature, the controller activates the compressor and a blower to circulate air over the evaporator to reduce the temperature of the compartment. The controller provides a defrost loop which is periodically activated which controls the compressor, evaporator and heater cycle during defrost. If, during defrost, the evaporator reaches a maximum temperature, or if the food compartment temperature rises above a certain maximum, the heater is deactivated. An evaporator precool loop is provided which activates the compressor without activating the blower, thereby cooling the evaporator before hot air is allowed to circulate in the compartment.

  • Patent number: 5779679
Abstract: The present invention addresses a winged IV set having a retractable needle which provides additional safety to health care workers from accidental needle sticks. The winged IV set would consist of a device body with two sets of wings, one for handling and one for retraction, a needle, a needle holder with a nipple extension which may be connected with the catheter or IV tube, and a spring. The needle holder has opposed U-shaped arms which terminate in lugs that are received in opposed openings in the device body. The pair of retraction wings have a corresponding pair of tabs such that when the wings are folded, the tabs push the lugs out of the openings, allowing the spring to drive the needle and the needle holder back into the device body where another set of openings in the body receive the lugs on the needle holder to retain the needle inside the body. After retraction the device body may be handled safely.

  • Patent number: 5771494
Abstract: A pleated skirt suitable for cheerleading is disclosed which provides for active movement of the wearer, and desirable movement and visual effects of the skirt during wearing. Preferably, the skirt is constructed of a skirt body and at least two panels which are each attached only partially along their length to adjoining panels. The sections of the panels which are nonattached result in overlapping pleated flaps. Different colors can be used for each side of the overlapping pleated flaps and the alternate color is partially visible when the skirt is worn for increased visual variety.

  • Patent number: 5772106
Abstract: A compact printhead assembly is designed for employment in a soldering operation without the need for fluxes and without conducting the operation in a confined chamber. A self-contained printhead assembly has an internal reservoir and internal heating elements for raising the temperature above the melting temperature of solder or other liquid to be dispensed in microdroplets from a working surface at one end of the printhead housing. A jetting device containing an electro-mechanical transducer is pulsed to produced droplets at an exit orifice located at the working surface. Inert gas is preheated by the housing and delivered to the working surface to establish an oxygen-free atmosphere around the exit orifice and between the working surface and a substrate located a working distance away, whereby microdrops can be formed and deposited without harmful oxidation.

  • Patent number: 5695173
Abstract: A lift platform sustained through a double system of support scissors in its lower part, which offers the mechanical upward and downward motion in a vertical plane and on a base frame, which in its turn is activated by a hydraulic mechanism. The lift platform is characterized because it also includes a hydraulic unit which operates electronically to automatically control the desired position in its upward or downward motion originated by the movement of the mobile arms of the scissors on a track in the horizontal plane.
