  • Patent number: 6862538
Abstract: A system and method for establishing estimated values of a plurality of electrical parameters of a motor. The plurality of electrical parameters may be established from stator resistance data and electrical input data obtained with no load on the motor. The plurality of electrical parameters may also be established from stator resistance data, electrical input data, and motor speed data obtained at at least two load conditions of the motor. The plurality of electrical parameters may comprise rotor resistance. The system and method may also be used to estimate a plurality of operating parameters of the motor based on the estimated values of a plurality of electrical parameters of the motor. The plurality of operating parameters of a motor may comprise rotor temperature, motor torque, and motor efficiency.

  • Patent number: 6722016
Abstract: A technique for separating the stator leads of an electric motor during the manufacturing process. The technique comprises a system having a lead gathering assembly, a lead separator, and a drive mechanism. The lead gathering assembly is adapted to gather together a plurality of stator windings extending from a stator. The lead separator having a plurality of teeth adapted to separate a stator winding from the plurality of stator windings gathered together by the lead gathering assembly. The drive mechanism is adapted to drive the lead separator into the plurality of stator windings. The lead separator has teeth to separate each of the stator windings gathered together by the lead gathering assembly.

  • Patent number: 6411489
Abstract: An electromagnetic operator includes first and second coils wound coaxially. An armature partially surrounds the coils for channeling flux during energization of the coils. The armature may be formed of a bent plate and secured to a ferromagnetic support. A control circuit applies energizing signals to the coils during operation. Both coils are energized during an initial phase of operation. One of the coils is subsequently released or de-energized automatically. A timing circuit removes current from the second coil after a variable time period. The time period may be a function of the configuration of the timing circuit, such as an RC time constant, and of the energizing signal.

  • Patent number: 6375196
Abstract: A system is provided for sealingly coupling a gear reducer to a driven machine, such as a screw conveyor. The gear reducer includes a sealing assembly disposed in a bore of the gear reducer housing about an output member, such as an output hub. An adapter element couples the gear reducer to the load, such as directly to a screw conveyor trough. A first seal assembly is disposed in the adapter about an output shaft received in the output hub of the gear reducer. For a screw conveyor application, the first seal assembly may be adjacent to the screw conveyor trough plate. The adapter includes a second seal assembly within an interface flange which is secured to the gear reducer housing. The first and second seal assemblies are spaced from one another by a dropout area defined by integral standoffs of the adapter.
