Abstract: A tank [A] has a fluid inlet, a fluid outlet, and a closure [B] wherein the tank may be positioned in line as a pressure vessel. A magnetic core assembly includes elongated permanent magnets [C] and magnet covers or tubes [D] constructed of non-magnetic material for collecting magnetic particles from a liquid. The core assembly is carried in the tank and is removable after the separate closure is removed from the tank. The method contemplates separating the magnets from the tubes for removal of the magnetic particles from the magnetic core assembly externally of the tank and independently of the closure.
Abstract: A handle and method for use with a manually operated implement including an elongated tubular frame (A) with a holder (B) at one end for receiving a shank portion of the implement against rotation and movement in and out with respect to the holder and for achieving a two-point control by the user through a slidable support (C) opposite the holder and an intermediate upright hand grip (D), a strap (E) carried by a support (C) being provided for encompassing an arm of the user just below the elbow facilitating the application of force upwardly and downwardly as well as in and out through the implement.
Abstract: An absorbent package for containment and bioremediation of hydrocarbons and method thereof are disclosed. The package comprises a concentration of microorganisms, a timed release mechanism including a time release capsule, a matrix of fibrous material which is hydrophobic and oleophilic, and a porous casing. The fibrous material may be selected from synthetic fibers and cellulose fibers for storing accumulation of hydrocarbons. The method includes positioning a concentration of microorganisms capable of degradation of the hydrocarbons. Further, the method also provides the matrix which is absorbent, and such method includes filling the casing with the matrix and the microorganisms to form a hydrocarbon containment and degradation package. Then the method employs the action of absorbing and storing hydrocarbons passing through the casing and wicking hydrocarbons via capillary action through the matrix and absorbing the hydrocarbons into the matrix.
Abstract: A pipe lifting apparatus and method utilizes gripper arms (A) having upwardly diverging links (B) pivotally connected to an upwardly extending operator member (C) for receiving a lifting attachment and for moving a stirrup (D) from side to side to lock and unlock stops (E) for fixing the gripper arms and in unlocked position for a next pipe lifting operation. Auxiliary gripping members (F) are provided in opposed relation on each of the gripper arms for adjusting the effective gripping action afforded by the gripping arms to accommodate multiple size pipes.

Abstract: An assembly and method for collecting and releasing magnetic materials includes an elongated permanent magnet (A) within an elongated cover (B) constructed from non-magnetic material for providing a collection area for the magnetic materials thereon opposite the magnet. Apparatus (C) separates the magnet to a more remote position in relation to the collection area for releasing magnetic materials from the elongated cover. The magnet and the cover may be moved while in superposed closely adjacent relation for collecting magnetic material and thereafter separated for releasing magnetic material collected on the cover. A driven conveyor (D) may be included Ln the assembly for transporting the magnet and the cover through a coolant liquid containing magnetic materials in the form of particulate matter formed during a machining operation.

Abstract: A portable assembly is provided for compact storage and to facilitate portability wherein a body is constructed of longitudinal parallel transversely aligned tubular frame members (A) for telescopically positioning an extensible handle (B) with brackets (C) being moved for longitudinally sliding movement on longitudinal body members (A) for carrying wheels (D) which are locked in position opposite each other beneath a medial portion of the load utilizing fasteners (E) without the necessity for utilizing a transverse axle. A flexible or rigid platform support (F) may be utilized, and a transverse brace (G) may be removably secured to stabilize the wheels and their mountings during the transporting of a load.
Abstract: A lighting apparatus for use in air conditioning systems for textile weaving machines utilizing supports (A) carried on the overhead ducts in longitudinal spaced relation between support columns for the ducts wherein a fluorescent lamp (C) is positioned within an elongated aligned housing (B) to project light evenly through a lens (D) which extends below and on one side of the duct with light being directed by a downwardly extending reflector leg (E) to distribute light in a pattern including cross-directional light evenly across the weaving machines. A cusp (F) comprising downwardly inclined converging surfaces has an apex directly over the fluorescent lamp (C). The method contemplates positioning a single elongated fluorescent lamp asymmetrically on one side of the elongated housing, and configuring the reflector asymmetrically to reflect light in a cross-directional pattern so that illumination of obstructed parts of operating machines is achieved.
Abstract: Apparatus and method for loading a vehicle having a cab and a carrying compartment includes a frame (A) within the carrying compartment having an upright support member (B) on the frame carrying a power operated winch (C) for positioning a wheeled trailer upon spaced tracks (D) which further includes a guide member (E) carried between the tracks for carrying the trailer and the load in the trailer upon the vehicle and cab and carrying compartment. A substantially U-shaped frame includes torsion bars (F) for supporting tracks carrying the wheels of a trailer and for providing a guiding and locking mechanism (G) for positioning the trailer for transport.
Abstract: A fishing lure provides a lateral surface run during retrieval by utilizing a generally upright front surface (A) extending across an integral body which floats or is generally of substantially neutral buoyancy. A weight (B) is carried by the lure body to adjust the balance and path traversed during retrieval and to maintain a generally upright side wall (D) in position for attachment of a line to a connector (C) located in an elongated tunnel (E) intermediate upper and lower edges of the tunnel. The method contemplates utilizing an upright front surface (A) tapering across the lure body for providing lateral direction during retrieval, together with the step of fixing a connector to an upright side from about ¼ to about ⅓ of the length of the body from the front.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling data flow between a computer (10) producing a high speed data stream coupled to a buffered storage device including a disc array (43) and to a group of slower speed storage devices including tape drives arranged in a predetermined logical configuration including arrays (42). The system includes controllers (41) that work together such that if one of the controllers fails, the routing between the controllers and the tape drives is switched to the properly functioning controller without the need to involve the computer or operator in the rerouting process thus providing a redundancy of access control and sequencing. The apparatus also includes components which permit a functioning controller to assume control of tape arrays formerly primarily controlled by the failed controller. In addition, the apparatus provides error check and correction generation devices (45, 58) as well as tape storage device configuration circuitry.
Abstract: A combination drive and method for applying power through a piston rod (A) operated by an air cylinder (B) is controlled by an elongated self-locking threaded drive member (C) rotated by an electric motor (D) for affording positioning and velocity control for the air operated cylinder and the guided piston rod which stops and is positively positioned upon cessation of operation of the electric motor. Control apparatus includes a valve housing (35) positioning a spool (40) fixed on one end to the elongated threaded drive member (C), and an assembly (45) for moving the spool axially in respect to the electric motor (D) through an axially compliant coupling (50) so that by controlling the motor the valve is thereby controlled.

Abstract: A horizontal U-shaped elongated rod holder frame has aligned legs (A) which are open at the front and joined by a horizontal member serving as a rear support (D) for the fishing rod handle. The horizontal rod holder frame is also open at the top and has downwardly inclined legs converging in a V-shaped front support (C) a juncture with a vertical frame support (B) at an angle of approximately 45 degrees so as to provide a front support for the handle. A pair of opposed transversely aligned ears (E) are carried by the horizontal frame to restrain the handle against pivotal movement at a horizontal plane while a connector (F) is provided for securement of the rod holder frame to a mounting for adjustment in a vertical plane. Adjustment is also provided in the horizontal plane and for rotational positioning. A stop is carried adjacent the front support or by the handle to avoid dislodgement of the rod from the front.
Abstract: A cosmetic carrying case constructed of flexible material is compartmentalized to provide a first and second compartments (A and B), respectively for containing a foldable auxiliary compartment (C) therebetween with end flaps (D) closed by the zippers (E). The compartments may be opened in flat configuration for visual display and folded and zipped closed. The entire contents of the carrying case are protected from extreme temperatures by sheet insulating material as well as a foil thermal barrier.

Abstract: A gripper for transporting filling yarn in a projectile (A) across a loom for insertion during weaving is carried by spring arms (B). The gripper includes opposed jaws one of which has a V-shaped inner surface (C) and the other jaw has a W-shaped inner surface (D) receiving an end of filling yarn (Y) when the gripper is closed. The method includes transporting the filling yarn across the loom while engaged by the opposed interengaging inner surfaces of the jaws.
Abstract: A vertical winder for winding a web on a center wound roll has a fixed vertical frame (A) supporting a carriage for vertical movement thereon. The carriage has a vertically movable upright section (B) and a cantilevered section (C) positioning at least one elongated driven roll (D) above the center wound roll. A drive motor (E) mounted on the carriage drives the elongated drive roll, and a fluid-operated cylinder (F) positions the elongated carriage between lowered and raised positions during the build of a center wound roll. The method provides for delivering a web in open width at a central location to the center wound roll during driving and building of the center wound roll.
Abstract: A plotter and method for laying out computerized construction plans on a construction site includes a mobile applicator (A) carrying a locator (B) for supplying location data to a central processing unit (C) which stores the construction plans, and provides an output signal to an actuator (D) for initiating marking of the site by the applicator. An operator manually traverses the mobile applicator over a path calculated to cover the entire construction site, and the actuator causes the applicator to progressively mark the site responsive to signals from the central processing unit, so that the marks on the site correspond with the construction plans.
