Abstract: An apparatus and method for measuring the length of cloth moving in open width from a loom to a cloth winder is illustrated wherein a wheel C is positioned in tangential relation upon cloth moving over a direction roll reflecting the length of the cloth in response to rotations of the wheel.
Abstract: A loom cloth takeup having pivotally mounted arms A exerting a force upon a friction roll (F) has first and second control devices (E) and (H) respectively for controlling tension on the cloth ahead of the friction roll (F) and for controlling a motor (G) driving the friction roll (F) to afford full roll tension control during the build of the cloth roll.
Abstract: A spun bonded nonwoven web having spaced autogenous spot bonds A has continuous ribs B of filaments therebetween extending axially in the machine direction as well as continuous ribs C extending axially in the cross direction throughout the web, said nonwoven web having been subjected to axial stretching and elongation with increased area and reduction in basis weight by at least about thirty (30%) percent.
Abstract: Apparatus is illustrated for positioning longitudinally spaced switches upon a base member which member may be the cylinder of a robotic control apparatus and which apparatus achieves a clamping action through the use of a rail (A), a locking bracket (B), a rocker arm (C) fixed upon the rail and an abutment (D) carrying a bearing member (E) forcing the bracket into engagement clamping both sides of the switch against the base member.
Abstract: Apparatus for positioning magnetic switches in alignment on a base member has a contact edge (C) at one end and a threaded post (D) adjacent the other end. Wedging the contact edge (C) into engagement with a lower surface of an elongated groove (A) is accomplished by tilting the switch upwardly at the other end by means of threadably manipulating the post so as to extend downwardly engaging the stop members (E) with the inward projections (B).
Abstract: A batcher has a brake (E) connected to the packing roll (B) for slowing the packing roll as during an unwinding phase to vary the packing ratio between the packing roll (B) and the drive roll (A). A drive mechanism (D) utilizes a single drive clutch for imparting a free wheeling action to the packing roll during unwinding so as to facilitate operation of the brake in effecting the proper packing ratio.
Abstract: An oil drainage catch pan (A) having an open top (10) for receiving used engine oil drained therein has a reservoir (B) on one end of the pan with a discharge spout (C) and a container (D) connected by a coupling (E) to the spout. After collecting the used oil in the catch pan, the catch pan is tilted causing the used oil to flow to the reservoir and drain through the spout into the container for containment and transport to a suitable location.
Abstract: A flow control valve includes a needle (B) which is carried in an elongated housing within an axial bore which is partially closed at one end by a crimp (C) which forms a retaining clip to prevent inadvertent forceful expulsion of the needle from the flow control valve in the event dislodgement or failure of the retaining means which normally positions the needle within the control valve.
Abstract: A top roll for use in drafting textile fibers includes a disposable cartridge C at each end each containing sealed ball bearings and a spacer between the bearings so as to be maintained in an assembled relation and positioned upon reduced end portions of a top roll shaft by the end screw D.
Abstract: Apparatus for feeding warp yarns to a weaving machine has a driven yarn tensioning roll (A) over which passes the warp yarn as it is pulled from a supply into the weaving machine. Thereafter, the warp yarn passes over a dancer roll (B) and a guide (C). A motor (D) drives the roll (A) for rotation responsive to oscillation of the dancer roll (B) resulting from yarn tension. Power operated apparatus (E) including fluid operated cylinders move the dancer roll and guide away from the yarn tensioning roll (A) to permit quick thread up of the weaving machine. By providing a second driven yarn tensioning roll and associated elements it is possible to more effectively mix warp yarns being fed into the weaving machine. A potentiometer (F) is driven by oscillation of the dancer roll for controlling the speed of the motor (D).

Abstract: A physician's prescription pad has a number of stacked sets of imperforate prescription forms A secured together by an adhesive binding B at one end of each of the stacked sets of forms. A base member C carries a cover member D presenting advertising material E to the physician as he is in the process of writing a prescription. The cover member serves to protect the stacked sets of forms so as to avoid the transfer of written material to the next set of forms and to present advertising to the physician at the point of use. The prescriptions are separable at the top and are imperforate suitable for presentation to the pharmacist with copies being provided.
Abstract: A fluid operated cylinder assembly has an end cap wherein a wire key connection for retaining the end cap within a cylinder has a leg (B) on one end received within a slot (A) on the outer surface of the end cap has a crimped portion (D) at an opposite end being carried at an angle to permit insertion through an anchor passage (C) in the cylinder wall which may be bent to confine the wire key against dislodgement during continuous use. The wire key has an intermediate arcuate segment (E) which is preformed. The method contemplates first inserting an end cap within the cylinder exposing the anchor passage to permit insertion of the crimped end of the wire key and thereafter the leg (B) on the opposite end into the slot in the end cap after return of the end cap to locking position with subsequent further crimping or bending of the crimped end of the wire key to lock same into position.
Abstract: A coupling linking a tractor 10 and a trailer 11 having a fifth wheel assembly 12 having a longitudinal outwardly tapering slot defined by spaced ears 15 is provided with an anti-jackknifing apparatus A, B. Sensor C located adjacent a rear wheel 16 of the trailer generates a frequency reflective of the speed of the tractor and trailer. A radar gun, and the like or other sensor may also be used to determine ground speed. Upon receiving a frequency corresponding to a speed exceeding a predetermined speed, a speed controlled switch D engages the anti-jackknifing apparatus. Similarly, the switch D automatically disengages the apparatus upon receiving a frequency signal corresponding to a speed below the predetermined speed or, upon the occurrence of certain conditions, the activation of a turning signal by the driver. A signal light E mounted externally on the trailer indicates when the apparatus has been activated.

Abstract: A tool for stripping insulation from a cable has a wheel (D) with a circumferential groove accommodating the cable for guidance and movement of the wheel along the length of the cable. A wire from the cable is hooked to the wheel at one end in a fastener (E) defined by a receiving opening. A ratchet (F) effectuates indexing movement of the wheel along the cable for winding a wire from the cable while stripping the insulation as the wire is pulled from the cable as a result of such winding of the wire.
Abstract: A construction module effective against emissions from radio active material contains shielding material A encapsulated in molded plastic material B which may be made by using the molded plastic material as a form and then filling the form with shielding material. A special joint structure provides a full thickness of shielding material.
Abstract: A loom harness cable, extending from an operating mechanism on one end and beneath the loom for connection adjacent an end of the harness remote from the operating mechanism, is disconnectably joined in segments by turnbuckles (C and D) to save the time of skilled personnel, machine downtime, as well as material, in repairing a broken harness cable.
