  • Patent number: 5524944
Abstract: A lockable latch mechanism for receiving the hasp of a padlock and locking a hinged door to a door jamb to prevent opening of the door when the door is closed and the latch is in engagement with the jamb. The latch includes a sliding latch mounted on the door including a latch plate and a latch bolt. A latch bolt defines a cam surface engagable with the jamb to cam the latch bolt away from the jamb as the door is closed. Biasing springs are utilized to bias the latch bolt outwardly with respect to the latch plate and to bias the latch plate and latch bolt together outwardly with respect to the door jamb. A detent prevents movement between the latch plate and the latch bolt when the latch is mounted on a door and latched behind a door jamb.

A second shell includes a first wall defining two apertures and a passage, a second wall defining two apertures and a top formed between the first and second walls thereof. A lock defines two apertures and includes an upper portion and a lower portion of a greater length thus defining two shoulders. Two pins are inserted through the apertures defined in the first and second shells and the lock. Three springs are compressed between the lock and the second wall of the second shell. Two rails are pivotally linked to the first shell and each include an end with a block raised therefrom. The blocks are supported by the shoulders when the lock is against the first wall of the second shell.

  • Patent number: 5462380
Abstract: A detent for releasably securing an inner telescoping tube within an outer telescoping tube. The said tubes having alignable openings in the walls thereof for receiving the detent. The detent is formed by a detent pin which extends through the tube wall openings and releasably latches the tubes together. A leaf spring secured at the inserted end of said inserted tube extends within the outer tube into supporting and biasing engagement with the detent pin. The spring biases said pin into the latching position. For releasing the detent, a bell crank is pivotally mounted within the inserted tube. One end of the bell crank is engaged with the locking pin and biasing spring and the other end is secured to an actuating knob which extends through the wall of the inserted tube.

  • Patent number: 5448780
Abstract: A high performance sport safety helmet. The helmet is formed by an outer shell adapted for fitting upon a wearer's head, with a frontal periphery defining a centrally arched portion forming a front opening exposing the face and a major portion of the forehead of the wearer. The shell further has a base periphery defining an arcuate base opening for receiving the wearer's neck. A flexible resilient expandable front band is secured to and extends across the front opening of the shell with a substantial portion of the band lying below the centrally arched portion. The band snugly engages and substantially completely covers the forehead of the wearer. An articulated shell liner is secured to and covers the inner surface of the shell. The liner is partially separable and non-detachable from the shell. A visor is pivotally secured to the shell and nestable between the shell and the shell liner for selectively shielding the front opening of the shell.

  • Patent number: 5443329
Abstract: An apparatus for stabilizing an underwater object such as a pipeline includes at least one pair of weights supported on a blanket with the blanket adapted to be disposed across and in engaging contact with the top of the underwater object so that the weights are disposed on opposite sides of the object and a flexible connector between the two weights so as to allow the weights to apply compressive forces to opposite sides of the underwater object to assist in retaining the weights in position relative to the object. A method is also disclosed for laying the underwater object by clampingly placing the afore-described apparatus on the pipeline as it is lowered into the water.

  • Patent number: 5441892
Abstract: A clot mass condition of blood is evaluated by initially forming the clot in the sample of the blood and thereafter allowing the clot to condense. The initial formation of the clot is determined by measuring the drop time of a reciprocated indicator device upon which the clot is formed. The condensation of the clot is determined by measuring the stabilized and increased drop time of the indicator device after the initial clot formation has occurred. The clot mass is related to the quantity of fibrinogen in the blood sample which polymerizes in the clot. Clot condensation results in the clot being substantially only fibrinogen, so the stabilized condensation time is related to the fibrinogen concentration in the blood sample.

  • Patent number: 5413836
Abstract: A frame which is configured by means of a number of extrusions, a number of links, a number of bolts, a number of nuts and a number of nut positioners. Each link defines a number of holes. Each extrusion defines at least one longitudinal channel being cruciform as shown in a cross-sectional view taken on a plane intersecting the extrusion. Each nut positioner defines a recess so that the nuts are kept from rotating in the recess and a profile so that it can be positioned at any desired point in the channels. A number of bolts are inserted through the holes formed in each link and further secured in the nuts retained in the channels formed in a number of extrusions. Each link can be attached to a number of extrusions. Thus, a frame can be configured by means of a number of extrusions.

  • Patent number: 5156290
Abstract: A container (11) for rubbish having an enclosed compartment (14) an inlet passageway formed within the walls (17) and (19) of the compartment (14), a closure (15) and an outlet passageway integrally formed within the inner and outer walls (41) and (43) of the closure (15). The inlet and outlet passageway insulate the interior of the compartment (14) by incorporating cavities (21) and (45) and are particularly arranged to produce convection current airflow whereby the inlet passageway directs ambient air from an entry port (31) externally of the compartment in an involuted manner through the walls of the compartment to a point marginally above the inner base of the compartment (14) and the outlet passageway extracts heated air from the top of the compartment interior through the entry port (47) of the closure and out through the annular exit port (49) thereof.
