  • Patent number: 4640528
Abstract: Two elongated beams project forwardly and two project rearwardly from a central base portion. The pairs of beams are closer together at their front and rear ends than at the central base portion. Front and rear arms are mounted at opposite ends of the beams for limited rotational movement relative thereto. The cargo consists of a pair of prefabricated building modules, one of which is mounted on the front beams and arm, and the other on the rear beams and arm. When subjected to torsional forces, the front and rear ends of the beams can twist relative to the longitudinal axis of the semitrailer while the front and rear arms remain substantially aligned with the central base portion.

  • Patent number: 4615063
Abstract: An anchoring rod extends vertically through a hollow box girder underlying a suspension bridge or suspended walkway. The anchoring rod is connected at its upper end to a suspension cable and is provided at its lower end with a stop member which can be tightened against the lower wall of the girder. The opening in the lower wall of the girder through which the anchoring rod extends is larger than the opening in the upper wall of the girder, and a tubular, load-bearing sleeve is carried on the anchoring rod through the lower wall opening. The tubular sleeve is sized so that the upper end abuts against the inner surface of the upper wall of the girder and the lower end abuts against the stop member when the stop member is tightened against the lower wall of the girder.

  • Patent number: 4588133
Abstract: Improved control over the distribution pattern and the amount of fertilizer, grass seed or the like dispensed by a broadcast spreader is accomplished by mounting a variable rate control device in a material directing chute secured below a basin wall of a hopper. A web or ramp portion of the chute is spaced below a discharge port in the hopper, and the rate control device is rotatably mounted in a housing formed in the rear of the chute to engage a shutter that is slidably mounted under the discharge port.
